Historically Tech is much better than ULM in all sports except water skiing. ULM probably won't stay in D1 anyway.

Notice how ULM fans always compare their school to Tech....like a little brother trying to measure up. Fact is they know it's a matter of time before they are Northwestern Part II.
Playing Tech in the State Fair Game bolstered NSU and gave it much needed publicity, but soon after they stopped playing each other, NSU's program has gone straight down hill.
ULM will share the same fate now that Tech is no longer on the schedule. The Warhawks (I believe that's their latest version of a mascot) is just another school that nobody cares about or wants to see bad enough to buy a ticket.

Someone who listened to the press conference announcing Berry as the new HC for football said he didn't hear of Dr. Cofer was present at the press conference. Can anyone confirm this? If Dr. Cofer was not there I think it is very telling about him as President, what he thinks of his new hire as HC.

arrakis, you seem to be harboring some deep resentment towards ULM.. I mean, you are trying to hide it with veiled insults, but its pretty obvious that some ULM grad hammered your wife(or probably ex-wife).. and no one thinks its funny to say shite like 'i believe thats their latest version of a mascot'.. you know thats the fricking mascot is a-hole.. and everyone knows why they had to change it.. they didnt have a choice.. even still, 'Warhawks' is a more historically relevant nickname than 'Bulldogs'..

that dude has no fricking clue about Tech or ULM.. i remember the games... in the late 90's.. there were huge crowds at both ULM and Tech.. Tech had some good teams then too.. they made it to a couple bowl games and had that big opening game against Nebraska.. we all knew that Tech had the better team, but the rivalry was still there.. the Tech fans and players (back then at least) enjoyed the game as much as the ULM fans/players..
and its not like ULM wants it to be a big rivalry game, they have a rival in ULL..
im not sure why Tech (maybe its Dooley) decided they were too good for ULM.. but the games were awesome.. more people showed up at the Joe back then for ULM than they do now for Boise St..

Dr. Cofer was there. I watched the whole thing online. Staub spoke first and introduced Coach Berry. Berry spoke for a little while then took some questions from the media. Then Dr. Cofer spoke for a few minutes and it was over. It was a very positive press conference for ULM.

I think his time was just up. He was there 7 seasons and never had a winning season. He just couldn't get us over the hump. I always thought he was too much of a cheerleader. The first home game he coached in Monroe he was jumping and waving at the crowd to yell. It was kind of strange to see a head coach do that. He also didn't cuss or let anyone else cuss in the program. I don't like that. The DC from this season was a solid coach. He was up for the Broyle Award that goes to the top assistant in the country. Kirby Smart at Bama won it. I'd be willing to bet that keeping the DC was a must for the incoming coach. The new OC played under Berry at Illinois St. and coached at ULM for several years.

Really? Because If I'm the DC that just got passed over for HC, I'd be pretty p.o.'d - unless my wallet was fattened. Subtantially.
I just don't see it. So basically, you've got the guy who saved your defense last year and you're telling him he's not good enough to be HC, but stick around because the guy we hired with a worse win percentage than the guy we fired will need all the help you can give.
