Problem is, if Berry is twice as good as Dooley, ULM will be barely bowl eligible.

He had to be the first sucker to take what ULM offered.

So they are on probation this year. But the rule states they have to fall below 15K for 2 consecutive years. They should be safe because they have the home game with Arkansas in Little Rock next year.

Louisiana Tech: Where you brag about averaging 20,000 in attendance because you only beat two FBS schools this year.

When you look at the population of Ouachita vs Lincoln, ULM sucks even more...if that's possible.

150k vs 42k

To average 12k with that population base is a joke. I'm still not convinced they don't give away tickets to get people in the stands.

Oh, they do...I have friends who are handed out tickets while they are tailgating. And that whole Arkansas home game thing...haha...now it makes sense in more ways than one.

It gets the job done though. Laugh all you want. Your opinion doesn't matter.

I'm pulling for NLU to get it together. Their fanbase has turned their backs on them due to LSU's success. NLU had its best run at EVERYTHING when Mike Archer and Curley Hallman had their 6 year run.

Even worse for ULM if Tech can pull from 70 miles and they can't get fans from their own backyard

Not so sure about this. A lot of Tech grads may move to Shreveport, but I don't beleive many more pull for Tech. Probably more of an LSU town if any. ULM may have as many fans there as Tech. But I have no idea, just speculating.

That being said, Monroe and Ouachita Parish are an embarrasment when it comes to supporting ULM.

It might be just me, but doesn't it seem that troubles started in '99 when the name was changed to ULM? That angered more people than you'd think and a lot of alums felt alienated.

It took too long to get into a conference. When you're a scrub school, independence means your team has literally nothing for which to play (looking in your direction, Fighting Irish).

NLU/ULM should have done WAY more to try and synchronize its move up with the formation of football's Sun Belt. That 5- or 6-year span of independence made ULM football just a bit too boring for Joe Blow.

Actually, NLU should have stayed in 1-AA, where it belongs. They'd be a more recognized program. It'd be different if they were in a big city/big market ala Villanova. If Nova, i.e., jumped to the Big East, they'd actually have a shot at competing and they'd be in a BCS conference. NLU has no shot of getting in a BCS and the best bowl they can hope for is what - the Mobile Bowl or New Orleans Bowl?

(fixed, assuming that's what you meant)

They make more money in FBS.

They make more money in FBS, sure...but look at their attendance and that tells you no one is interested in watching NLU play North Texas or Troy. Success, on any level, is more recognized when you win. The best years of NLU football that I know of were the late 70's through the early 90's...before they jumped on the ship to nowhere. If LSU is on tv, the same time NLU is playing Arkansas State, everyone will tailgate out by DeSiard and then at 6, pack it up and head home to watch the LSU game. It became like this in 2000-2001.
