Ok. So just add 1 to each case.

4 spots out vs 2 spots out. That's not a better chance?

How? Either Minn. is a good enough OOC win to trump head-to-head (when arguing TCU-Baylor) meaning they're a quality opponent, yet they're 5th in a conference. So if they're fifth and still a quality win, the other four teams must be pretty solid, right? Meaning tOSU schedule isn't as shite as everyone makes it out to be.

OR

The B1G sucks and tOSU schedule is weak, inherently making Minnesota a much weaker team and actually not that good of a win. Meaning the main argument for TCU over Baylor, which was OOC conference schedule isn't as great as to he made out.

Can't have it both ways. And either way, TCU is the odd man out. In option A tOSU gets the trump card. In option B Baylor gets the trump.

I'll say it again. You're part of the discussion. Be happy with that.

Again, I'm not sure why you keep asking me this. I've never said anything about better or worse chances. The simple answer to your question is yes - everyone now has a better chance thanks to them doubling the number of teams that have a direct chance at the title.

That said, looking at the scenarios that you have provided, TCU is left out of both, so it's a moot point.

It wasn't from left field. The committee ranked everyone last week based on what they felt they had accomplished to that point. They did the same this week. The totality of the whole season was accounted for, not just this weekend's results.

You're highlighting some of my points in here when you say they are tallying the whole season into the metrics, not just this weekend's results.

A.) We didn't have a full week in between meetings for a matured reasoning of events.

B.)The events which did take place do not hold weight with the actions they invoked.

Once again you have an extremely short time span where a team who was 3rd in the country by the committees metrics on the last week of the season involving 90% of the body of work giving you a 50+ point victory of a conference rival for the last 10% of the equation.

It just seems like this last 10% for certain teams held 90% of the weight and others it didn't.

Jeff Long said the margin between 3 and 6 was already razor thin. You need to forget about the previous rankings and 5 days ago. That doesn't matter in these final rankings. And yes, wins against ranked teams will be valued above a win over a 2-10 team, regardless when the games were played.

I got to the post I quoted, stopped what I was doing and replied. Anything over two pages is really tough for a slow reader like myself.

Er, no.

The preliminary standings were not in any way binding. It was pretty stupid of the committee to publish them at all.

I wonder what would have happened if TCU/Baylor was OU, would they get jumped?
I don't think Oklahoma would have been jumped by Ohio State. This is just like 2011 in my eyes. bama jumped Oklahoma State, but if it had been OU or Texas, I don't think bama would have been chosen over either of those two schools. In my opinion, TCU and Baylor were passed over this year because they are TCU and Baylor. Same with Oklahoma State in 2011.
