they make perfect sense to everyone but you and the Associated Press, and the Coaches Poll, and the Harris Interactive Poll, and Kenneth Massey, and Richard Billingsley, and Peter Wolfe, and Anderson & Hester, and Jeff Sagarin, and Colley Matrix.

So 14, do you believe that TCU is the only non-BCS school that has an elite football program.
Waiting.
Oh and Sagarin and Massey have completely shitty rankings. Both have Arizona State in their top 30s - the same Arizona State that went 4-6 against FBS teams. According to Massey, 10 of the 13 hardest schedules in the nation belonged to Pac-10 schools.
Your sources are shite.

Ok, so I have my own rating system (which has as many/few flaws as just about any other I've seen), and I took each school's ratings from the past four years. Why four? That's a class that (other than redshirts) has come and gone. It's a good way to judge who currently is elite.
But, I also think that 2010 is more important than 2007, so I counted 2007 with a weight of 1, 2009 with a weight of 1.333333, 2008 with a weight of 1.66666667, and 2010 with a weight of 2.
So, when you ask me who I think the elite teams are, I start there.
a = a team's rating from 2007
b = a team's rating from 2008
c = a team's rating from 2009
d = a team's rating from 2010
E = Eliteness quotient
E = a + 4b/3 + 8c/3 + 2d
(Flawed? Sure. But more right than wrong, I believe.)
Here are the top ten over the past four years:
Alabama
Auburn
Boise State
Florida
Louisiana State
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Oregon
Texas
Texas Christian
I put them in alphabetical order instead of their actual rank; trust me, you don't want to see it.

Auburn was a top ten team for one year, this year

Sagarin and Massey have rankings GCA disagrees with so he disregards them.

some how I think if they had 10 SEC schools in the top 13 you'd agree
Well the Pac 10 all play each other and play 9 conference games. Most of them usually have at least 1 good OOC games vs a BCS opponent.

They well respected, have been around for a long time, they are used by the BCS, but because you don't like part of the rankings, they are "shite"
why don't you produce an alternative ranking system?

Through this whole thing everyone is discrediting TCU and Boise. But in all reality they have nothing to prove to anyone. If teams want to play them, they now have to go to them. If you dont want to go to them and shut them up, you have no right to bitch. You might not like them, you might not like who they play. All they do is win and people love to bitch about teams that are good, not ones that everyone can beat.

quote:Absolutely, especially since these two never do any bitching. The only two middies who have ever bitched are BYU and Tulane. BSU and TCU just win, and they're gracious when they qualify for a BCS game. Not once has either belonged in the BCS title game, and neither school categorically disagrees. It isn't their job to play eight SEC schools per year. Their job is to play the schedule that they prefer. We will judge them against their schedule's strength, and we'll see how the ball bounces.
But in all reality they have nothing to prove to anyone.
But, no one can deny that BSU and TCU are among the nation's elite.

So you have no problem with their biased methodology?

Oh sure even though I said the exact opposite last night.

Mel Kiper is well respected and he generally has no idea what the frick he is talking about. Year in and year out he jizzes himself about a group of prospects and says they'll be drafted in the first round or top 50 and year in and year out they aren't. Then he says they'll still be a success - they never are.

You mid major lovers would hate it and it doesn't fit ESPN's agenda.

How do you think the two would fair if they played in the SEC, Big 10, Big XII, Pac 10, ACC, or Big East?

quote:Anywhere between 5-3 and losing to Auburn in the SECCG. Really hard to guess. Other than Auburn, every team in the SEC lost to a team who is worse than TCU.
How do you think the two would fair if they played in the SEC,

Big 10,

Big XII,

Pac 10,

ACC,

or Big East?
