What a bunch of pansies!

* So they just want to roll with the big dogs in BCS games, but not have to play any quality OOC opponents? Not like the Big East is anything special

* They are in a AQ conference now, so their BCS hopes arent tarnished with a potential OOC loss..they just need to win the leage

Kinda lost a little respect for them on this one.

I can't remember if it was 2007 or 2009, but they supposedly dropped playing us too.

They have LSU coming up on their schedule in a couple of years.

They'll probably drop us at the last minute and force us to schedule a FCS school.

Big East will probably start advising their schools to play a light schedule.

Undefeated seasons are their only shot to make NC games.

TCU complains when TTech cancels, but pussies out of a rematch with Wisconsin.

it'd be funny if college football had a rematch clause like the WWE

win a home or neutral game over a BCS opponent if you're non-BCS, and the losing team automatically gets a rematch at their home stadium

Once again.... This crap. Here's EXACTLY my comments on this from another site:

quote:

All you guys bashing TCU with the "First Ohio and now Wisconsin..." BS: Allow me to change the context. It's 6:00pm on December 31 and your NYE date just decided she'd have more fun on NYE without you... No big deal... you'll just dial up a girl you've never even voluntarily given the time of day to before and BOOM! Problem solved! She'd be crazy to say no to you... You who hob-nobs with the Legends & Leaders. Even if she'd made other plans for the night looooooong before you entered the picture... She should jump at the chance, right? And by all means - when you get shot down - Trash talk her loudly to your buddies, neighbors... Hell - anyone within earshot... to try to maintain the facade of superiority. Tell ya what - GET OVER YOURSELVES.
................................................
ETA: This is in no way directed at the many, many fans of multiple Big10 Teams with whom I've had the pleasure of engaging in lengthy football conversation with.

So - Here's how the Big10 likes to do things (from the Leaders/Legends Scheduling Policy Handbook):

1) Wait until a scheduled opponent bails after most teams have their schedules finalized.

2) Wait a few more weeks until after all bowl games have been played.

3) No Big10 Athletic Department personnel should be involved in contacting TCU's AD - it should be a 3rd Party.

4) Look at TCU's upcoming schedule and choose from among the dates that TCU already has a game scheduled... and invite them to play a Big10 game instead.

5) Don't attempt a home/home... Invite TCU to participate in an AWAY 1-and-done for an undisclosed amount of $.

6) Publicize TCU's lack of cooperation, balls, etc... when they don't jump at the chance to play.

In late December of 2007, Ohio State said it had reached a deal to open the 2009 season at home against TCU. Army had recently backed out of a planned series, and the Horned Frogs, coming off an 8-5 season, were set for a one-game trip to Columbus. According to Ohio State, the game had been agreed to but the contract wasn't yet signed.

"I'd say Ohio State really wanted it," TCU associate athletic director Jack Hesselbrock, who handles the Horned Frogs' football scheduling, said last week. "They had an opening and needed an opponent, and I think the fans would have liked it and been intrigued by it."

Hesselbrock said TCU was about 50-50 on taking the game, but certainly talked it over. There were some logistical problems. Virginia was already scheduled for the season opener and according to Hesselbrock, it would not have been easy to shift that game. Also, with TCU's growing success, the Horned Frogs were looking to get away from taking paydays to serve as opponents for BCS schools, as they did with losses to Texas in 2007 and Oklahoma in 2008.

So while they liked the idea of playing Ohio State for the first time since 1973, the program was hoping to move beyond that.

"And Ohio State was not interested in a return here for obvious reasons," Hesselbrock said.

At the same time, TCU was talking about a home-and-home series with a different BCS school. But that didn't work out. A gap remained in the schedule. So TCU announced in February that it was signing a one-game deal to play at Clemson this season.

That 14-10 victory against a team ranked No. 23 in the BCS standings is TCU's best win, and it wouldn't have happened if the Ohio State game had worked out. But a win over the team currently No. 10 in the BCS would have helped TCU much more.

Why should they turn there schedule upside down to give the crying Badgers a home game? TCU has a scheduled away game with Baylor for the first game of the season. Wisconsin lost, let them deal with it. They have nothing to gain with a rematch with Wisconsin at Wisconsin.

TCU would be doing the same thing as Tech did to them by making someone else scramble to fill a hole in the schedule. TCU has the Big East schedule, as well as games with OU, LSU, and Virginia in the next few years.

That being said, TCU schedule is terrible this year, but with a reduced capacity stadium due to construction, and rebuilding after losing key pieces of a great team, that might be just what the doctor ordered.

I know the Big East is not the SEC, but their schedule will take a big step up, both in conference and OOC starting in 2012. The Tigers better be ready...

That article confirms everything I said in my previous post (except for the "use of a 3rd party" bit).

ETA:

If that makes TCU "The Bitch" - Clearly OOHI is the "Self-absorbed Slapdick" of the situation.

It was an away 1-and-done offer to TCU. Why in the world would any team accept that? Wisky was treating them like a rent-a-team. Big football schools should only do neutral site games or home-and-home.

Yeah, I guess, but TCU has also claimed they would play us anytime, anywhere(or something like that). They had 2 years advance to schedule us(in a game that Ohio State clearly wanted), yet backed out for Virginia.

OSU or Wisconsin aren't seeking admittance to the "cool kids" party like TCU is.

Refer to Florida State scheduling in the early years of Bobby Bowden.

"Anytime, anywhere" came up 3 months ago - Not sure how that applies to what happened in 2007.

You need to read that article again. TCU refused to back out of a game scheduled against Virginia in order to play OOHI - Not the other way around.

Yes - Both my teams wear purple. This doesn't change the fact that your reading comprehension is just lousy enough to reinforce your poor grasp of the big picture. That is not "taking things personal" in any way shape or form. You decided to add the bitch thing - My ETA was a response to yours.

I don't see why Ohio State would lie about assuming the game was a set deal. Obviously, TCU led them the believe it was going to happen.

And, their comment realistically has nothing to do with the game in 2007, but they were the ones who opted out of the game, then a few short years later made that comment.

Either way, I don't really care. They're in the Big East now, so they'll be earninng whatever they get.

:eta:
Also, I would like to add... where did I disagree with anything you said? All I said was that they opted to play Virgina > tOSU.

I didn't miss that part. You just seem to align yourself with those who are perpetuating the "ChickenSh*t TCU" BS. The "plan" seems to involve considerable glossing over some pretty important facts (allowing for considerable uninformed conjecture) en route to a conclusion where TCU is openly cast in a negative light.

I don't care for propaganda - and that's exactly what the Big10 has been increasingly perpetuating of late (with an unfortunately high success rate, judging from what I've seen here).
