re: Taylor Mays - How did he make so many AA lists?

Hence why I agree to disagree. Is he an AA? Certainly. Is a 1st AA? Debatable.
He was the captain of the #1 pass defense in every statistical category. The YPC was 8.3 against USC, almost a yard better than any other team (Clemson #2 at 9.1).

Rashad Johnson should definitely be on first team for Mays and I think Berry should be higher also.

Mays is dumb.
Shouldn't that have counted against him?

yes. Big and fast with poor instincts

Eight year career with 400+ tackles is not poor in my estimation.
Not everyone can be Ronnie Lott or Tim McDonald.

NFL.com has him for 332 career tackles
6 INTS
4.5 sacks

It's not "poor" but he didn't get even close to playing to a 1st round estimation.
Posted on 12/18/08 at 1:30 pm to Louie T
so is "disappointment" a fair label?
Posted on 12/18/08 at 1:33 pm to el tigre
speaking of Jones? yeah
Mays reminds me a lot of him.

No
I saw an interview with him coming out of high school. Complete f'n moron. Jerrel Powe level of speech.
Maybe that private school education has turned him around.

Taylor's father, Stafford Mays, is a Microsoft executive and his mother is a Nordstrom executive. Stafford Mays also played defensive end for Lincoln High, Mt. Hood Community College, University of Washington (1978-79) and in the NFL from 1980 to 1988. As a child, Mays attended many Huskies games with his dad at nearby Husky Stadium. Taylor's mother is Jewish, and he has had a bar mitzvah.
The Mays family lives in Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle.
Magnolia Real Estate listings (very ghetto!):

Taylor is a graduate of Bishop O'Dea, an all-boys Catholic school.
Mays is slightly more polished than Jerrel Powe.
I'd love to see your example of his lack of eloquence.

This proves me wrong???
You are a complete f'n tool for posting that.
I saw an interview with the kid when he was a senior in high school. He was a complete moron. Enough of one for me to remember it years later. Get over it.
