Five time Pro Bowler (3 1st team All Pro), pushing 70 career sacks as a NT, a Super Bowl ring, a DRotY, and a member of an All-Decade team. Yeah, he's a guy that gets in after a few ballots.

He was probably among the elite in the game for 2-3 years then the rest was mediocrity. Next to those few years, he's more known for being a dirty player by today's standards than for quality of play. Def not first ballot.
