Maybe they think 24 hours will make a huge difference in the ability of law enforcement and bowl folks to help form a better security plan. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's was my first thought.

My opinion is the whole concept behind delaying is "We don't know if he worked solo or with another group". You will not find all that out in a 24 hour span if the concern is with a terrorist group that is 8,000 miles away from here and the Perp is dead and can't answer any questions.
If they send in workers now, it may not be up to par, but I think most fans would prefer it not being up to par than have to return home because their flights leave in the AM tomorrow and hotel visit done. Pushing it back 1 day, limits I'd bet at least half of people from attending for one reason or another, work, flights, no reschedule policy, hotels shut down near quarter so can't extend stay, whatever.
