How does a racist donated to the NAACP and Black Business Association?

Seems like these organizations wouldn't accept money and present him with awards if he was a known racist for 30 years.

Racist views vs racist actions?

Let's be honest...some other owners probably want him to win. This precedent is horrible for them.

shite I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the owners felt this way.

The pressure the league will put on them and the black eye they would receive if they back Sterling changes things, though

If the owner vote was anonymous it would be 90+ percent in favor of Sterling staying as the owner.

Lester Munson said there is an arbitration clause in the constitution and Sterling will likely get booted out of court and have to take his grievance to an arbiter.

Munson also said DS will file a Anti Trust and that none of the owners want anything do with that.

Seems ESPNs law team keeps going back and forth

This is constitutional provision applicable.
quote:

The Membership of a Member or the interest of any Owner
may be terminated by a vote of three fourths (3/4) of the Board of
Governors if the Member or Owner shall do or suffer any of the
following:
(a) Willfully violate any of the provisions of the
Constitution and By-Laws, resolutions, or agreements of the
Association.

And
quote:

Any person who gives, makes, issues, authorizes or
endorses any statement having, or designed to have, an effect
prejudicial or detrimental to the best interests of basketball or of the
Association or of a Member or its Team, shall be liable to a fine not
exceeding $1,000,000 to be imposed by the Commissioner.

quote:

The Commissioner shall have the power to suspend
for a definite or indefinite period, or to impose a fine not exceeding
$1,000,000, or inflict both such suspension and fine upon any person
who, in his opinion, shall have been guilty of conduct prejudicial or
detrimental to the Association.

Ran out of time to check for other provisions being discussed, but I did not see an agreement not to sue, which has been discussed above.

No, that's not right

He didn't want her seen with black people in general.

And how in the hell is someone cheating on their wife the same thing as he did?

So it's ok to keep someone like Chris Paul who said he wanted a black coach not a qualified coach, or Spike Lee who said he wanted to shoot white people and promotes violence against whites in the NBA? We can't keep holding black peoples hand through every little ordeal and not hold them accountable for what they say or do anymore. Racism will never go away if we keep favouring one particular race. I didn't listen to the whole tape but I'm pretty sure Sterling never said I want to kill the blacks or I want a team full of white people.

Yea, and the courts didn't prove him guilty

But people still view him as a murderer

Just like the players need the NBA and it's owners, the owners need these players to keep the money coming in

Except if the NBA folded Tommorow, 99 percent of the owners would still be billionaires, while most of the players are living the ballers lifestyle living paycheck to paycheck that would last half a month without nba checks in the mail

This is why everytime theres a strike, players usually get a shite deal they complain about

That's why I like Caron Butler. Did you know he has an MBA (I think) and owns like 15 Burger Kings? That's how you do it.

Of course not. Do you think they would say otherwise? I said an anonymous vote.

Here is my question. In the state of California, illegally taping a private conversation is against the law. Now i understand people have said that he wanted her to do it, but unless they have a written agreement, he can claim he didnt give her the right and now its "he said she said". If that's indeed the law, this audio tape would then be a crime. If this goes to court, California may not allow this tape to be submissable in court on behalf of the NBA because of the law. If this happens then what does the NBA have to force him to sell? He is an attorney! This is what Sterling does. He wouldnt sue unless he thinks he has a case. Again, the NBA is basing this whole thing on the audio tape, which in California, technically could be a crime. Here is the link:

LINK

Again, i see this getting real real messy!

Thats smart. Low risk

Most of these players retire and get duped into some ponsy scheme, restraunt, or real estate deal that bankrupts them because theyre clueless to what they are doing.

That's not how it works. There is no arbitration provision in the constitution. The courts cannot "force" arbitration.
