How do you see a court allowing the NBA to force him to sell something he owns?

He can own whatever the hell he wants to. It just won't be in the NBA, which he agreed to join and abide by their terms

Honest question for you or anyone else

You think the owners will vote this guy out based upon a private recording from the man's home that did not break any laws?

Yes. It's sad because the NBA is something like 75% black and the owners are mostly white so if they don't vote him out these assholes will claim all the owners are racist and that's one thing they don't need or want. While the NBA is banning racist people can Chris Paul and Spike Lee be kicked out to please.

the real question is whether each owner's vote will be made public. If this is a private vote, I could see the commission having a hard time getting the other owners to agree.

This is where I am also. But we all know, somehow the votes will be leaked if they are claimed to be private. But I think they will be made public because of the outside interest.

The abrupt action by the commissioner is bad for the NBA owners. The NBA Players' Union must be licking their chops. This is a terrible precedent if you are an owner.

I have said this from the beginning. While I agree with them banning stirling, the precedent they are setting by removing a guys ownership, for his private, illegally obtained thoughts is beyond alarming.

Someone should post the age and race of every NBA owner.

I'm guessing an abundance of 60+ year old white men

It blows my mind how people can't understand that the NBA can do business with whoever they want like any other private company. Donald sterling can own any basketball team he wants, they just wont be in the NBA

You can go buy a McDonald's franchise and if they feel you're hurting the company they can kick you the frick out although you owned it

Quick question, is Stirling the sole owner of the Clippers? Or are there other partners? Also, if he is the sole owner, does he own the rights to them, meaning if he wanted to be a complete dick, could he just give the NBA the middle finger and fold the team if he chose to?

Maybe so, but that would be insanely stupid while he could just sell the team and bring in a cool billion

Then he stays the owner but still can't go to NBA events

Any owner voting for Sterling would be committing career suicide simply based on the risk of the vote becoming public like so many other private things do these days
meh, not voting to force Sterling to sell the team would be a PR nightmare. But, it wouldn't be career suicide. Voting to oust him would be setting a precedent that could essentially be NBA career suicide for every single owner. Every person is immoral. And, every person commits some wrong in public. This time it is racism. What's the next immoral thing that forces an owner to sell his team?

- Mark Cuban drunk after winning the Finals?
- James Dolan of the Knicks has a history of drug and alcohol issues along with being sued by a former employee of sexual harassment.

Where is the line drawn? Can the other 29 owners trust each other to not turn on them one day due to a personal life issue that becomes public knowledge?

One thing definitely not in Sterling's favor, besides the obvious, is the fact that the Staples Center isn't solely owned by him or the Clippers.

If he owned the Arena, the NBA would be in a bad way, as he could ban any NBA personnel from his building in a tit for tat response. Most arenas are owned by the city, so this is moot anyway.

Racism outweighs both of those by a lot, especially Cuban getting drunk after winning a championship. The players are always shown downing champagne in the locker room

A person hurting themselves is not near as big of an issue of discrimination against an entire race

It's a shame this man is gonna lose his team based on a conversation he had in the privacy of his own home. At the same time now that the cat is out of the hat he must distance himself from the NBA for his and his family's own good. But to see all these A-holes capitalize on his comments is as disgusting as the words he used. The longer he fights the NBA the uglier this mess is gonna get, why would anyone want this? Seems like ESPN has become the propaganda machine for the left, not good.

what about spousal abuse? I'm sure some players/coaches/owners have probably done that? what about when that leaks?

Let me make sure I have this right. The NBA doesn't care that he was cheating on his wife with a half black half Mexican ugly arse trifling hoe, however they do care that he didn't want said trifling hoe hanging out in public with a black dude with A.I.D.S right?

There's really only a few things that could get them ousted like Sterling
