don’t get what you’re saying. He’s complaining that players aren’t allowed to have ownership stakes in the team while playing. Implicit in his comment is that some players would deserve this and get paid this if it was allowed. And having equity in the company as part of your salary directly exposes you to the upside and downside of the industry. And this is not something very crazy. Anyone at any company making as much salary as them would have a massive portion of it be based on equity. It’s really that sports are the outlier.

Comparing him to a high ranking executive at a company isn’t apples to apples either. He has a very limited window where he is an asset to the organizations success. Once he becomes physical unable to preform at that level his value sharply declines. Most people given equity deals in the business world provide something essential to the business that they don’t want to lose to a competitor. Even now Currys value to any nba team doesn’t warrant giving a piece of equity.

I stopped watching
He wants to have equity in a team where the team doesn’t have “owners” anymore they have governors?
So would NBA players with equity be councilmen?

Being a great employee of a company doesn't entitle you to own part of the company. Their ridiculous salaries are based, in part, on revenue sharing, so I don't know what exactly he should be complain about when he's worth almost half a billion dollars.

I hear you, and don't disagree in general. Curry does have a point, in that the Warriors were an absolute also-ran outpost. Since he's been there, they are rhe most valuable asset in the league. He's largely responsible for that. Has he been paid, handsomely? Yes. Of course. If this were a different industry, and Curry invented things to help Apple, for example, he'd likely have a hand in the IP/patent world, and would have a stake in the unique value he brought to the company - if nothing else in the form of significant stock options. Both parties are correct.

Maybe because Apple can keep selling iWidgets that you invent after you retire. Players have absolutely no value the minute they quit playing.

lol. Millions of people are wage slaves for corporations that they help build and are offered no equity, not even discounted stock options, for their efforts.
