Yeah I find some of it confusing. I understand being butt-hurt about your own team losing, but don't understand the infatuation for disliking VGK.
NHL wants to grow the game. I feel like the fans should want this as well since more exposure is typically going to be a good thing for the sport.
I wasn't interested in hockey at all until they announced an expansion team in Vegas. It offered a chance for me to get in on the ground floor with a team and neither Houston nor New Orleans have a franchise (and I happen to love Las Vegas with a passion). I thought they were going to suck hard.
I'm definitely not as knowledgeable as many hockey fans, but I've certainly supported the sport infinitely more since becoming a fan both monetarily and in time/viewership.

A bunch of fans and writers do not like the breaks Vegas was given to set the team up and how the trades they were allowed to make were never allowed in any previous expansion draft. NHL could not afford Vegas, and now Seattle to fail. That has a bunch of it.
Compare how Vegas and Seattle are being allowed to set up compared to Minnesota, Atlanta, Anaheim, Ottawa, San Jose etc there lies the "hate"
So in essence instead of only having 4th line guys protected in earlier expansion, Vegas could get 2nd line guys.
Jackets and Wild when drafting had 9 forwards and 7 defensemen protected from each team
Vegas had 7 and 5 plus they could trade guys before they had them as well and cut deals not to take certain players.
Now Vegas does not have to protect anyone as they are ineligible to be drafted (although they claim the expansion fee makes up for it. That is a different story for a different time and too long and convoluted to get into)

Now that the Avs are out because Vegas cheated and all their players frick their own whore mothers and also film themselves having sex with small farm animals at center ice when nobody is looking and then sell the videos on the secondary market in Eastern Europe, none of this really counts anymore. Also I hate all of you. Also, I am out of kleenex and or the appropriate crying towels.
But at least I ain't bitter.
Now, THIS is how you flame other teams. Kudos!

I’m allowed to flame again?

Every sports league needs a team or 2 to hate. NFL has the Cowboys / Patriots / Brady. MLB has the Yankees and recently, the Astros. NBA, it's probably more LeBron than any particular team.
The NHL has had different teams going through the "hate" phase. Others here have followed hockey much longer and more closely than I have over the years, so they may have a better list than mine. The 70's had Philly and the Broad Street Bullies. The early 80's had the Islanders and Billy Smith. In the late 90's, the Avalanche and the Red Wings were the NHL's version of the Hatfields and McCoys. It runs in cycles. Eventually, VGK will have down seasons and they'll find a new team to hate. To be honest, I'll kinda miss it.

refs missed that one, point got pushed in the back
challenge that shite, don’t know how it could be any more obvious than a blatant push in the back

Not really he was running him. That’s a good call. It’s on now. He made no attempt to slow down which is his responsibility

Oh give me a break with this penalty and goal

Concussion protocol pulls him is bs if that happened. Dude wasn’t on ice and makes that call. When it costs a team a playoff game they’ll change the stupidity.

Dude fully extended pushing Point. Terrible BS
Now they score.
Now they score.

If they let Maroon and Martin go earlier it would have been over
Posted on 6/15/21 at 7:38 pm to UFownstSECsince1950
Sergachev just dropped that fricker
Posted on 6/15/21 at 7:38 pm to ThatMakesSense
The refs screwed this up earlier. Now it’s over
