Or piss them off and make them thirsty in the playoffs.
Why would it piss them off? Because the Spurs aren't laying down for them?
They're either good enough to get the record or they aren't. GSW are the ones that voluntarily attached this record chase to their identity this year.
I'd imagine the Spurs are the hardest team to muster up any ire towards. They don't shite talk or anything.

Exactly. It's not like an 8th seeded team is the one denying them of the record. It's a team that MIGHT better than them.

Well thank God the playoffs last 3 months and you get 2 days of rest between each game
I've never understood the resting your players in bball notion given how much time you get in the playoffs for rest especially if you sweep a team in the first round.

I don't think it would make them perform any better in the playoffs, but you really wonder why GS might be pissed at going from all time status with 73 wins to the #2 seed in a matter of 2 weeks?
They most certainly would be pissed.

I think you're underestimating how much of a toll an 82 game regular season takes on older players. And because the NBA season only has a few months of an off season, it makes it that much harder to have time to recover.

I guess that's what I meant. I don't think missing out on the record would be a constructive "pissed off" like someone talking shite about them in the news.

Players will always find motivation. If SAS got the #1 seed, GS would be angry and motivated. If they didn't, GS would still find something else to be equally motivated about, so I'm sure we're on the same page.
I forgot where I heard it, I think LeBatard. Before the national championship, someone from UNC was talking about how everyone doubted them, then LeBatard pointed out that they were the #1 team in the preseason, won the ACC, ACC tourney, then had the #1 overall seed in the tourney. Slightly off topic and not even sure it's all correct, but it was funny and thought I'd share.

They can't sit on the beach for weeks at a time but to act like someone who is in peak condition can't recover playing a game every 3 days is ridiculous. Not to mention GS will likely have over a full week of rest between the first and second series.

An extra days rest is helping short term, but it's not fixing any longterm ailments/wear and tear.

the toll should matter more for SAS than GS. They've been playing tons of games compared to GS.

Pop isn't dumb enough to sit his starters when he has a chance at the #1 seed
