I know for a fact that WM tried to schedule South Panola in the late 90s. WM played Moss Point, Clarksville, Vicksburg, and Warren Central instead.

Grew up in Monroe, went to Ole Miss (20 minutes from Batesville) and I honestly would be surprised if WM could hang for a half against USP.

The USP players have been lifting weights and running high school plays since 7th grade (and before t=you WM guys say 'so do our guys', i agree but not to the point of USP)

USP is moreorless comprised of 5-8 families that produce nothing but athlete after athlete. Their whole team is a bunch of cousins playing together.

Thy're (USP) dumb as shite though, so WM would definitely have them there

Damn, South Panola just won by 11 tonight over Olive Branch. They play for the North Half Championship next week.

by special i mean other national powers...they just renewed the rivalry last year with neville. wm keeps bragging about being nationally ranked but their district is a joke so each year you can pencil in 8 wins just from district. they need to start playing the "national powers" if they want to show people how good they are maybe since their district has been redone they can start...just not next year they have another weak schedule. neville/ouachita look like their hardest games

Hoover beat a pretty good Clay-Chalkville team tonight. They play Mountain Brook next week in the Semi's.

Usp may be a powerhouse, but Louisiana athletics as a whole are far greater than Mississippi. I played 2a in la and moved to ms and played 3a. Football was more competetive and la baseball trumped ms!! Ms is a dead arse state with some country arse shite towns.

Their closest game before tonight was a 30 point win over Colquitt County, GA.

I played 2A in LA then moved to TN and played 5A. Not much of a difference.

Katy, Tx and Euless Trinity are as good as anyone in high school football

South Panola would hang with any of them. Max Preps predicts South Panola would beat Euless Trinity FWIW.

Man that would be an awesome matchup this year. South Panola and Katy would be epic.

SPU doesn't win it every year lately. At the end of the year Meridian High vs SPU for 6A state title. They are Split 1-1 the last 2 years and will probably play again this year.

I don't know how a fan of either team could make an argument, because neither team has played anyone of high caliber this year.

South Panola had a 89 game winning streak and had 5 straight state titles before Meridian upset them in 2008

If they win this year, it will be their seventh state title in the past eight years.
