Smart essentially built a legacy on one tourney run. If you look at his record before and since he’s been mediocre at best.

Well his record before is one season
27-9 with an 11-7 record in conference
His seasons after the final four (not including Texas)
And I won’t include Texas because that’s the “legacy” he built to get that job, is 108-35 (51-17) with 4 trips to the tourney. (2 trips he won the first game and 2 he lost in the first round)
That doesn’t really look like a mediocre record at VCU after his final four run to me
