ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the Casey hiring is a five-year deal.

He joins a franchise that ownership expects to reach the playoffs next season.

The news ends a lengthy process that began when Pistons owner Tom Gores fired Stan Van Gundy on May 7 — almost four weeks after concluding the regular season with a 39-43 record.

Solid move by Detroit. Thought Casey might get passed by for a bit there.

LeBron has always looked at Dwane as a father figure.

Step 1 in turning it around, very good hire.

Now they need to figure this whole roster thing out, might be time to blow it up and tank for the year.

They have:
30m in blake who is pretty good, but probably not worth it
24m in drummond who is elite defensively and rebounding, but arse offensively
16m in reggie jackson who's horrible
10.5m in leuer who's also horrible
6.7m in galloway who isn't more than a bench guy at best
6m for ish who's probably their best guard honestly

probably time for them to decide who's their future and let it ride and build around that.

What was the pistons record with and without Reggie Jackson last year?

They could have up to 5 second round draft picks in 2019 I would package 2 or 3 and get out from under Leuer and then trade Galloway with another.

Really difficult situation SVG has put this franchise in mainly with the Reggie and Leuer contracts. About 28 million for those two alone....
