Wow that was beautiful. Thanks mate. MVMe. That’s him. That’s Westbrook.

Davis in not on their tier, clearly. Eye test and statistically.
You doing this to be provocative or you're actually serious? AD's passed the defensive eye test since his lone year at UK, it's inarguable, his defensive stats are generally within the same range as Gobert's and Embiid's plus he's led the league in blocks twice and been named to 2 all-defense teams.

Embiids team defense was #1 in the league last year when he was in the court. Way below average without him.
This year Utah is first in every defensive metric with gobert in the court. Not even close to the top without him.
Embiid and gobert s teams are ELITE defensively when they are on the court. ELITE. No matter who else is out there with them.
Davis team is average defensively. A true defensive anchor will impact team defensive success by his presence on the court.
That’s why they are in a different tier than Davis and everyone else.

All 3 are the best defensive big men currently in the game, their imposing presences on the court represent a pretty solid deterrent to paint penetration
I’d agree with that.
I’d just go:
1. Gobert
2. Embiid
3. Davis

Without AD, the Pels are more than likely last in every statistical defensive category and he IS among the top players in defensive win shares but go ahead tell me again how one of the best defensive players of his generation is not in the tier of Gobert and Embiid

Gonna need you (especially YOU of all people) to prove this to me before I even contemplate buying what you're selling about Embiid and Gobert and I'm certainly not disputing that they're great defensive players, just because you say in on a message board doesn't mean it's true

Pels are ‘more than likely’ there you go with the hypothetical BS. Here take your medicine bubba ....
Davis is not close to either of these guys.
The Sixers were outscored by 467 points over their 82 games, but were a plus-67 with Embiid on the floor. With Embiid anchoring the defense, they allowed just 99.1 points per 100 possessions, a mark better than that of the Spurs' No. 1-ranked defense (100.9). The Sixers were 9.0 points per 100 possessions better defensively with Embiid on the floor than they were with him off the floor. It's not often that rookies make a positive impact defensively, but Embiid clearly did. Opponents shot 40.8 percent at the rim when he was there to protect, the best rim-protection mark among players who defended at least five shots in 25 or more games. He also led the league with 4.72 steals plus blocks per 36 minutes.
Utah’s offense will come and go, but the Gobert-anchored defense has been constant through the team’s success. When he’s been on the court this season, the Jazz are allowing just 97 points per 100 possessions. That’s more than four whole points/100 poss. better than the league’s best defense, which belongs to the Boston Celtics (for now, anyway).

We just dismissing the idea that Utah might actually be pretty good?

they are prob the fourth best playoff team in the west imo. Will be sweep or gentleman sweep by Houston.
Posted on 4/24/18 at 2:48 pm to Boomshockalocka
Westbrook talked shite all year about how they are built for the playoffs and all this nonsense bc they beat a couple squads when they were short handed and/or had seeding wrapped up.
Posted on 4/24/18 at 2:49 pm to Boomshockalocka
I've liked their roster for awhile. Gobert is awesome. Mitchell is obviously a good scorer.
OKC has two ultra talented players and one past his prime washed up scorer. It was a bad fit from the start. Utah is simply a better team than OKC.

They have done a good job under Dennis Lindsey of getting guys that fit their system. They have shipped off or let walk the apparent low iq guys like hood and hill and replaced them with o’neal And Rubio. They are pretty good. But we have two all time kinda teams this year in HOU and GSW. nobody can really push them except for each other imo.

Let's see here: AD exceeds both in blocks, steals, MPG, avoids foul trouble, defensive WS by a BIG margin not to mention he doesn't play with that great a defensive supporting cast like Embiid with Simmons and Covington and Gobert with Favors and Rubio, the ONLY player next to AD on the Pels REMOTELY CAPABLE of playing great defense has been injury-sidelined the last 30+ games. The Pels finished the regular season 14th in defensive efficiency, if both AD and Boogie sat out an extended amount of time with that squad, you can't honestly say they wouldn't finish last in the league in every defensive category or you'd just be disingenous, frickin Skip Bayless trying to minimize AD a guy who plays more minutes and avoids fouls better than both those great defensive players what a joke.

both of those guys being on the court ensures an ELITE defense. Davis does not. He doesn’t even come close. GTFO bro. And you are posting counting stats.
Davis can’t even anchor a top 5 D. Much Less #1 in the league like those guys.

You would rather reward a guy for taking his team from “maybe” bad to average
Over guys who take their teams from
Average to ELITE
we reward excellence. not mediocrity.

Apparently they don't get on the court as much as AD because they're busy contending with injuries (or in Embiid's case contractual obligations) or foul trouble which AD obviously surpasses them in, what's that thing they say about availability and best ability?
Posted on 4/24/18 at 3:17 pm to ThePTExperience1969
They still will finish one - two over him in DPOY. DAVIS is a clear thIrd at best. And much closer to the pack. Than to those two.
A word of advice:
Instead of playing the hypothetical they would be bad without him. But they are only merely average with him.
1. Davis /Pels team defense
2. Lebron mvp this year
3 westbrook mvp last year
All revolve around imaginary ‘how bad would they be without him’ takes.
Take a look at who IS great. And reward that. You will have some consistency to your takes.

Teams that have won titles..... right now the only elite team is GS and that’s when Curry is on the court...... Houston is no better than Toronto as of now....
