Honors course is changing their grass to Bermuda this summer, you should try and get an Internship there.
Probably not the wisest idea. Hearing a lot of things that Stone the superintendent is becoming a hermit, keeping the members out the loop and starting to over stay his welcome. No idea if this is true just what i heard through he grape vine. Hate to say it because Ive been there and its an awesome course.

Thanks for the advice.
Definitely helps to hear from someone who has gone through it. Most of my graduate advisers have been teaching their whole career and never gone through the process.
I definitely am gonna pony up for the GCSAA membership. I almost did already to enter an essay scholarship contest, but the deadline was like a week away and figured I'd wait until next year.
I've been looking through TurfNet Job Listings and salivating over some of the internships/assistant jobs that have been open over the last few months. I will be going to a handful of national conventions and presenting my research, so those will definitely help with networking.

David has a pretty good memory I bet he does. And yea I think you'll be able to find a place, sounds like a lot of courses are moving to Bermuda.
I'm interested to see how the new greens play in the fall compared to the bent grass.

That's not good for Stone, especially keeping members out of the loop. A course like that can afford the summer management costs of bentgrass.
Here's an article on Nooga.com on the subject: LINK

I'm watching the replay of today on the golf channel right now, and I think the course looks nice. I don't see many bad or bare spots.

My pleasure. Also when it comes to advisers be weary. Advisers will recommend jobs often times without your best interest in mind because their trying to help some superintendent buddy from college who needs a laborer.

The course looks nice. But the layout blows.
I hate Pete Dye.

Like I said thats just what I've heard through the other people but certainly not from any member at the Honor's Course. Probably the result of turf loss during the summer which is a normal occurance. Highly doubt his job is in jeopardy.

I'm not going to talk about it on a message board.

You can never make everyone happy.

I couldn't agree more. There are several holes at TPC LA that are pretty much the same. 9 & 17...same hole. 5, 12, 15...all the same design. Throw in the quirky, gimmick stuff, and you aren't going to find many who really like it.

When you work at private club you will learn that quickly.
But for the most part members are usually pretty supportive and take care of you.

That's what I've heard. How long ago did you graduate?
Posted on 4/28/13 at 9:57 pm to bamafan425
I graduated in the fall of 2011
