Not true I live S.C. and there were people at the bar last night talking about them. Because I am from la.they we're asking me if UL was better than LSU since UL is ranked and LSU is 6-6. I told them if they play 10 times LSU would probably win all 10. LOL they didn't believe me.

I never understood the UL hate for LSU. As an LSU alum and fan, I never disliked ULL until I saw the vitriol that spews from many of their fans. I root for Tech, ULM, Nicholls, just not when they play LSU.

Sure seems like they had Florida’s attention. After all, they did hire ULL’s coach.

I honestly don’t understand why the Ragin’ Cajuns calling themselves UL upsets so many people. Do they think outsiders are going to think they’re the flagship school of Louisiana? Who cares what they call themselves? Let them do what they want.

Does it make you feel better to constantly act like the publicly funded version of tulane?

Sulphur was a pipeline straight to LSU back when Sulphur high school had at least decent teams and was relevant in any discussion about state contenders. 2nd rate went to Tulane or McNeese. I do not recall any going to USL (now Oo La La)

The issue is that still in the same class with every other state college not named LSU, they tried a political ploy to become the sole rep for the state as a university. Power brokers in NE Louisiana could see that coming and got Northeastern to share the "Louisiana" name.
But no no no the frauds call themselves Louisiana.
I don't know of anyone who had issues with them as USL, except the one time rivalry with McNeese in sports. FTR, all of my relatives prior to myself and my sister opting for McNeese, went to SLI/USL. Buildings and scholarships have been named after relatives there, so I have never been anti USL or Laffy. Additionally, most of my teachers and all but one of my high school coaches were USL alum. Every last one of those alumni were admirable.
FWIW, the laughing stock of the football world was USL deciding to go "big time" in football after going 0-10 against the likes of McNeese, Northwestern, Northeastern, Southeastern and Lamar. LA Tech had at least a legitimate reason to make the step up in class back then.

You must be really freaking young then, you apparently didn’t watch an LSU game under Curly Hallman

I am trying to find out when they officially changed their mascot from Bulldogs to Ragin Cajuns? Would you know?
An uncle was on their boxing team pre WWII when they claim to have won the national title (actually it was a major annual boxing tournament in Philadelphia) Every fight he was by KO. The fans called him King Kong Killer Conques

Someone was telling me recently when the last one died, ULL held a funeral by the campus priest at Wisdom.
They got him a casket but due to rigor, he would not fit because his legs were stuck out so they sawed his legs off to get him to fit in order to have his funeral.
Personally I think they should rebrand and go retro, everything back to the bulldogs.

They’ll go back to the syrup can, Husdsoeth is from a cane syrup lineage…..but maybe they’ll hire a REAL CAJUN named Ogre Orgeron?
Posted on 12/5/21 at 11:46 am to Cigar
Or they hire a competent up and comer who will carry the success onward.

Has LSU ever lost to ULL in football?

People can act like we’d just route ULL,
I mean, we would
I mean, we would

I would estimate that within Lafayette city limits, the Cajuns have 50% support at best. In my neighborhood five miles away from campus, its maybe 25% . In places like Opelousas and Crowley, probably less than 10%. And that's no different than 20-30 years ago.
