The younger guy who was on TGC last night getting grilled by Brandel knew they fricked up but someone above him threw him to the wolves and made them spew the "USGA viewpoint". You could tell he was very uncomfortable.

I wish I had seen that. I'll have to haunt TGC tonight to see if they show a replay. That just makes them look even worse. Don't send a flunky out to defend your position. Send somebody who was in the room when the decision was made and will stand by it.

Maybe some good will come of this. Maybe the USGA will review their practices so that something like this won't cost somebody a championship in the future.

He's the Sr. Director of Rules for USGA. He made the final decision. But in those types of situations you bring him in and have the President or Chairman there as well to stand behind their guy.

The two guys on TGC last night were the two guys that made the decision. They looked stupid as hell, but, after they made the decision, they had to defend it at all costs, didn't they?

She wasn't really able to stand all that well, was she?

I bet Fox was pissed.

That really made the last round much less enjoyable.

I thought the ex-pro commentator (Brandel ?) was going to come across the table and punch the younger guy in the face. You could cut the tension with a knife. That dude was pissed and letting that guy have it.

"Tell me one other time you have EVER seen a practice swing cause the ball to move"

The guy would not answer the question.

Oh, OK. You were making it sound like he was some sort of press liason or something.

Nah. But you could tell his bosses left him out to dry.

The nice thing is DJ won the tourney & got to celebrate winning it with his wife later. Whereas the rules director went home & spent the nite reading the rule book, alone. God Bless that white dress.

Tell the truth. How many of you were hoping the camera angle would drop a little bit going up the stairs?

That was the same guy that was in the booth with Buck, Faxon & Zinger right? He was pretty evasive in that interview too.

Could you imagine this in another sport? Like you have a goalline stand in the 2nd quarter but the officials say they aren't going to let anyone know until after the 4th quarter is over if the ball crossed the plane or not.

I see your point, but a better example would be in a basketball game if there is a controversy over whether a basket should count as a 2 pointer or a 3 pointer when the shooter's foot was near the line. The refs immediately go to the monitor and figure it out. Can you imagine if they waited til the game was over??

Even Jack was critical of the USGA's decision.
