SMU Football has its final game of the 2024 season scheduled as the Mustangs will head to Nevada for a Week Zero matchup, the schools announced. The matchup replaces Vanderbilt, which skirted away from a series with the Mustangs.
“Who would’ve thought here at SMU that the SEC would be scared of us?” SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee chirped during his national signing day press conference. “But Vanderbilt didn’t want to play.”

State might not want it this early with a new coach but they wouldn’t run from it.

Vandy is playing:
Alcorn State
Georgia State
Ball State
They'll still probably lose to one of those.

And yet Vanderbilt just killed a 3 game series w/them when they were getting two of the games in Nashville and replaced the first game w/Ball State.

It's a week 0 thing. Most everyone else is starting their season on August 31. FSU and Georgia Tech will get 3 this year too b/c they play on August 24 in Dublin.

CFB is clearly splitting into a superleague of the Big Ten and ACC and its so absurd Vandy, Northwestern, etc get to tag along in that just because they have been here a long time.

Do what? Worry about your own team instead of ours. No way in hell is State scared of freaking SMU.

Eventually they will be required to pay out the money they are making to the players in the new semi pro league.
So i would think their talent levels will improve by default.
