Jefferson Parish councilman Scott Walker told local media Thursday that plans for transforming the stadium are in place, and those plans could begin as early as January of 2024. In the meantime, John Curtis Christian and Jesuit High School will begin playing games at the facility in 2023.

“Several months ago, the Jefferson Parish Council committed $15 million to the upgrades and renovations for this building because it just sits here and doesn’t do anything for the parish. It’s a state building. The parish owns the land. So it was just kind of in no man’s land. Well, now we are to the point where we’re ready to, in the next several months, start renovations on this building so it can be a real true multi-use facility, whether it’s football concerts, rugby, soccer, whatever it may be,” Walker said.

Just don't let the inner city schools play there and that's a great idea

Not a fan of this move as a rugby fan. NOLA Gold will have to play on an ugly field with extra football lines and markings all over the field. Not a good look for a professional rugby team to share with high school football.

Pretty useful for all parties involved tbh. New Orleans needs more high school football facilities and the shrine is unused a lot of the time.

Of course this is the best outcome for the stadium. Seems like baseball fields renovated for any other sport are not a cheap renovation to do it right.

Just a pet peeve of mine when I see or play rugby on fields that still have the football markings. Makes it hard to tell where the sideline, 22m line, and the 15m lines are.

Though I guess it really shouldn't matter much since most of the MLR games are played in the Spring. And since it's not turf, the lines shouldn't still be there from football.

They don’t need more, they need better facilities at Jefferson playground, Muss Bertolino, and one more on the West Bank

Jesuit playing at Zephyr Field might be sacrilege to history buffs, but it opens dates at Tad Gormley. I think I heard Carver is opening their new stadium too

We’ve been saying they need more and since then we’ve added Victory Field at Joe Brown Park, some games at Yulman, and the new stadium at Shaw. Without Helen Cox and Grace King, there can be more times available at Yenni and Memtsas
