re: “SEC was down this year” - when’s the last time any other conference had 5 in top 13?

Say what you want about “muh 5 teams in the top 13” but Georgia and Bama have looked underwhelming at times this year. Bama had their hands full with a pair of 6 loss teams (USF and Auburn) and 4-8 Arkansas. Yet they’re still viewed as more playoff worthy than an undefeated FSU who got the job done with a 3rd string QB and would’ve had their 2nd string back before the bowl game.
Maybe these other conferences should try beating whatever SEC team that’s in the playoffs. Michigan losing to TCU last season only to have TCU curb stomped by Georgia pretty much shows the disparity in SEC vs everyone else at the end of the season.

Also check the OOC record. LSU Bama and Florida all lost early season OOC games. The ACC was 6-4 on the year vs the SEC, but hey the ACC is inferior

Cheering-on a school's sports teams is nonsensical, but doing so for conferences is an especially strange phenomenon.

The conference championship games over the weekend were abysmal to watch
Huh? Washington/Oregon was a great game. So was Bama/Georgia. I don't know how you could watch that, as a football fan, and not enjoy it.
The big 10 was no fun, but that's bc their divisions are jacked up. That's a big 10 problem, not a football problem. The ACC and Big 12 are second tier conferences, and they provided second tier games.

Are you suggesting that the SEC is not a better conference than the ACC?

You guys have completely lost it trying to justify a one loss Big 12 champ being given the nod over an undefeated ACC team.
As I have pointed out to you before, per the committee guidelines, they couldn’t have included bama without UT. Therefore the decision you are presenting is not relevant.

You forgot Bama knocked the Heisman winning QB out to end that game
LSU was already losing when that happened and wasn't stopping Bama from scoring

No I judge teams accomplishments not conferences. Team win not conferences. Florida St played and beat 2 SEC teams along with every one else they played, that’s 11 P5 games. They should be in as should Texas who did beat the SEC champs in the road.

What has Arkansas contributed to this. Love when bottom feeders ride coattails when they haven’t contributed anything to the SEC rise. A few crappy bowl game wins. Considering 2010 was their best year and an average Ohio State team roasted these pigs might not wanna pipe it down and let the Big 6 run the show not The Hogs.

That’s false. Just look at them ranking one-loss Texas over one-loss OU earlier in the year despite OU’s win over Texas.

3 top 15 wins > 1 top 15 win
1 loss to one-loss team > 1 loss to two-loss team
SEC Championship > Big 12 Championship
“but muh one game in September!”

I know, “but muh one game!”

September is irrelevant but I think it adds a nice touch.

By the way, that metric you were using to support Texas a few days ago is now in Bama’s favor (SOS).
Completely rekt.
Completely rekt.

You are incorrect. The guidelines are written for “How to Select the Best Four Teams to Compete for the College Football Playoff Championship”
Only the final rankings do that.

Cool.
Now do H2H.

When circumstances at the margins indicate that teams are comparable, then the following criteria must be considered:
Championships won
Strength of schedule
Head-to-head competition (if it occurred)…
1. The guidelines don’t say “you must rank a team higher if they won the H2H,” just that it must be “considered.”
2. Strength of schedule is also in this list and that favors Bama.
