Scottie Pippen thinks that would be the right move and Tracy McGrady didn’t seem to disagree with him during “The Jump” on Tuesday. Both said they thought Williamson would be smart to just shut things down and wait for the draft

Pippens rational is that Zion is already the #1 pick and is risking injury.

An injury wouldn’t change his draft status.

For the most part, single injuries dont really seem to affect NBA drafts as much

So is he supposed to stop playing basketball altogether? No practice scrimmages or drills? Basketball isn’t football. You’re about as likely to get injured training than playing competitive games. Dumb.

I've seen plenty of bad ones that would change it.

Couldn’t blame him. But I want to see how he performs in March

NBA teams have a long and notorious history of drafting players high with a history of injuries.

They just don't seem to care.

Oh, it's not a contact sport, he'll be fine.

Achilles tear is about the only one. 1-2 guys tear an Achilles per year on a high year.

This isn’t football for two reasons. A) there aren’t nearly as many injuries. B) bad pro teams tank for multiple years.

College basketball is a trash product.

Every professional league is going to be a much higher level of skill than at collegiate, but I think basketball has the biggest gap. You can leave half the guys in college open for jumpers and they can’t consistently make them.

Foot and back injuries. Look at Embiid and Porter Jr.

And unless I'm mistaken, porters injury was one that could have happened during training as well

Unlike football, this is the wrong path to go down. I would say that these kids should go pros overseas for a single year

If you're Zion/Ben Simmons level you probably shouldn't play in college at all.
