It's just an awful product.
This.
NBA in the 80s to late 90s was great.

So athletic but they can’t last 82 games like the plumbers and firemen…
I was looking forward to seeing Mitch play in the SKC the other night but let’s be honest, if they don’t want to play at the Pels right now and their teams want to sit them I don’t blame them. Remember road fans don’t pay their salaries, the home fans do and that’s the games they should prioritize

The fans do, and it’s why no one cares but the culture

In the championship parade in June, the players were on top of busses. But every player got off the busses and walked and interacted with the crowd. SGA and others let fans touch the trophy and take selfies with it and player. They were chugging beers. And not one incident happened. You can’t do that in NYC or LA.
Different sport, but that’s what the Blues did in 2019. Even little Laila Anderson and her mother got to ride with one of the players in the parade.

For those who say no one watches they are increasing viewers. And with a small market title winner. Seems fans like the league when anyone can win.

The NBA had its most-watched Christmas Day in 15 years. 47-plus million people in the U.S. watched the NBA on Christmas Day. A 45% jump compared to last year
quote:
The afternoon games accounted for the lion’s share of the viewing, with Spurs-Thunder topping the charts with 6.71 million — the largest audience for a Christmas game in that midday timeslot since Cavaliers-Warriors in 2017. San Antonio’s win, which peaked with 7.4 million in the 4:15 PM ET quarter-hour, increased 51% from Timberwolves-Mavericks last year (4.45M).
