That is actually not a bad idea

I've always wanted to get two reasonable fans of the teams get drunk and comment on the game.

I can't stand Olbermann, he's a smug prick that takes everything entirely too serious. He's good at reading news CNN style and that's it to me.
If SVP is going late night talk show host with ESPN, I'd be cool with the move. That sounds like something I could get into.
If it's just to do plain old sportscenter, then seriously frick this move. it makes absolutely no sense to move the best broadcasting talent they have to midnight sportscenter.

Cowherd embodies everything that is wrong with ESPN. He paved the way for lazy, hack, trolls like Bayless and co.
I frickin hate every bit of information I've seen in this thread. frick ESPN. In one week, almost every podcast I listen to all the time is getting fricked--SVP & Russillo, BS Report, Bill Don't Lie.
I'm sure they will ruin Russillo too by pairing him up with Lord High Douchebag Danny Kanell. frick!
Only way that show is salvageable without SVP is if they permanently give the spot opposite Ryen Russillo to Adnan Virk. VIrk has always been really good on that show and he brings the right level of light-heartedness and self-deprecation to make the arrogant and brooding Russillo palatable. I like and respect Russillo a lot, but he needs a guy like SVP to balance him out. Otherwise, he becomes exhausting. Only guy I've heard fill that role well is Virk.

They could obviously be drunk.
And curse a lot, of course.
That is the only way you can make an Indians/Twins game in July interesting.

Fox Soccer used to play a game where fans from each team would commentate it. It was pretty entertaining.

I remember it was a big deal when Dan Patrick started hosting the 6pm sportscenter every day.
It lasted for like a year.

I just think a TV show host like that has to be a light, funny, likeable person
Olberman is a stick in the mud insufferable prick

My guess is that Major League Baseball would have none of it.

Yeah, I used to listen to Mike & Mike on the way to work, years ago. So I have to admit it was a staple. Now it just sucks and I haven't listened to the show in a long time.
Jim Rome has had the best show for years. I've been listening since the late 90's. It's a good mix of sports, entertainment, interviews and discussions from all over the sports world, not the ESPN mantra of NFL 24/7 with some NBA, excuse me LBJ talk, sprinkled in. Rome talks NFL, NCAAF, MLB, NCAAB, NBA, NHL, PGA, MMA, NASCAR, horse racing, anything that is the relevant topic of the day, and he won't beat a story to death for 3 hours. Excellent interviews. Variety. He will also get into other areas, just had an interview with Duff McKagan of GnR yesterday and was just, as an example, talking about the band The Replacements with his guest, Jason La Canfora who was on talking Deflategate. It keeps things entertaining.
Dan Patrick is like that as well, mixes alot of pop culture with sports talk. Has some good guests on too.
Don't know what to tell you if you don't like them. There is a reason those shows have a countless number of affiliates and have been on top for more than a decade.

But honestly, that's the thing. Pretty much any baseball game that doesn't involve your team is boring as shite to the casual baseball fan.
This would liven things up a little.

At this rate, you can throw the Red Sox into that mix.

If Rome didn't have his gigantic douche bag fans call in and try to imitate his voice, it would be better. Nothing is cringier than those "smackoffs"

We'd get a few Sox games in there for sure.

Apparently loads of people love Mike and Mike. I can't stand it. Everything is a cheesy gimmick or an advertisement for something.
It's the casual fans that listen to them. Got a guy that I work with that wants to bring up a topic he heard from Mike and Mike just about every morning. This guy is a "Saints" fan but couldn't tell me a single guy on the OLine.

Love the Smack Offs. Adds entertainment value tot the show. Again, it's about variety. Sometimes when the sports world isn't offering anything decent up for discussion the show itself becomes the topic. Keeps it fresh.
That said, the Jungle has changed dramatically over the years. Used to be a lot more stuff flew. Jim has clamped down on that as the show has gone more corporate. He also has been keeping the show tighter by restricting the callers more and more. The show now is different than a decade ago. Personally, I like it more the way it was back then.
