The White Sox could win 90-95. If Detroit has a season like last year, the White Sox will win the division.
I see the Sox at least getting into the postseason next year in one of the Wild Card spots.

A. Garcia was hurt most of the year. Potential All Star.
Gillaspie got better as the year went on.
Flowers also improved.
Sanchez has potential.
Viciedo started last season off great but struggled as the season progressed.

Starting pitching was bad last season outside of Sale and Quintana.
The bullpen was a dumpster fire. Belisario SUCKED! They have addressed the bullpen this offseason.

The two "easy outs" were traded last year.
De Aza is with Baltimore.
Gordon Beckham is still a free agent.

You have to remember Alexei played out of his mind last year. Is he that guy or the guy from the year before? Same with Quintana.

Viciedo is a huge liability in the field. He's a career .240 hitter vs RHP. Essentially he's a DH who can only hit LHP.

Gillaspie, Flowers, Sanchez, Danks.. I mean, cmon, do you really want to count on these guys? The 4th and 5th SPs?

As for the pen, obvioulsy Robertson is legit as they come. But Zach Duke? That's a lot of money for a 32 lefty specialist who basically has 1 season of success under his belt. I know he supposedly reinvented himself but the guy was a putting up 5 and 6 ERA seasons years prior. Even still, 2 guys arent going to overhaul a whole bullpen.

Look, I love Sale and Shark at the front of that rotation. Ive always like Quintana too, and if he can go deeper into games he will be a nice #3. I also like the top end of that lineup with Eaton, Laroche, and Abreu. But Ramirez has to prove to be consistent and that FO needs to go out and fill the back end of that lineup if they want to contend.

Garcia is a wild card, if he can give em 25 HRs and hit consistently, then maybe

Is Abreu going to hit like an MVP again? They better hope the league doesnt figure him out like they did Cespedes after his rookie year.

The bullpen is still crap, and they have automatic outs at Catcher, 3rd and 2B. Viciedo flashes pop but is easy to get out.

Minus Abreu, what in the WORLD would make any team scared of that lineup? Their 2nd best offensive player last year was Alexei Ramirez...ooooooooh. Gillespie and Flowers are .250 hitters.

Picking up Jeff S. does not make them a division winner. Detroit is still Detroit. Cleveland has MUCH better rotation with Kluber-Carrasco-Bauer-Salazar-House. KC has 3x a better offense.

If anything, The ChiSox need to worry about putting Minnesota back in the cellar again. The Twins have some incredible youth that will only get better.

Aside from Sale and Abreu, what is supposed to be THAT good? Quintana is good, but this lineup will not get him the run support. You are right....pitching will be better, but that lineup is just as horrid as when Adam Dunn was in it. Alex Rios being brought back would be better than what they have now.

That's weird. The White Sox and the Royals were comparable in almost every offensive category except power in which the Sox took that by a landslide... yet the Royals' offense is 3x better?

LINK

The ChiSox ranked 8th in the AL and the Royals 9th. One improved this offseason while one has not.

The fact that the Sox hit 60 more HRs than KC yet only scored 9 more runs and 21 RBI about says it all. Adam Dunn, Dayan Viciedo, Tyler Flowers.. A lot of meaningless, empty HRs. 2nd in the AL in Ks

Yea it says even with their empty home runs and bloated K's, they still ranked ahead of the Royals offensively. That says a lot about them as well. If they can get some more men on base, there's room for a big jump for the ChiSox. Signing LaRoche was a step in the right direction. If Eaton stays healthy and continues to progress, as of right now, they won't finish in the same vicinity next season.

"It says it all" can be twisted both ways.

Lot of "ifs" here.

"Ifs", in baseball, are luck.

The Yankees in 09 had a ridiculously good record in 1 run games and 9th inning comebacks. That shite doesn't carry over.

Baseball is probably the most fluid of the big 3 sports. You can have the exact same team perform the exact same statistically in 2 different years and have completely different records.

The great teams build off those ifs and make them constants. The shite teams say "well....if X Y & Z" and then miss the playoffs.

Every team has there fair share of ifs prior to the season. It nothing unusual.

Well yeah, but "those shite stats will matter this year!" isn't all that promising.

The Indians have shown improvement.
The Royals, while insanely lucky this year, look to have a solid team.
Minnesota is meh.
Then you have Detroit.

The Sox are in a bad spot. They'll always be second fiddle to the lovable losers (which I hate), and Detroit is spending the money. I mean seriously, Detroit fricked around and won 90 games last year. They looked like shite doing it but they had the roster to win 90 games. Chicago just doesn't have that right now.

Detroit and Cleveland has the best teams in that division. And detroit is still in on Scherzer.

Honestly, Minnesota won't even be that far behind the Sox if they can land another pitcher or two. KC will probably be right there, too.

Detroit, as screwed up as they are, is still the team to beat.

IDK if I really trust Cleveland.

Agreed Minny and CWS are about even.

KC who the hell knows.

I mean, these dudes talking about that rag tag Sox lineup. There is no way their lineup is better than CLE.

Santana, Brantley, Gomes, Moss are 20+ HR bats. Swisher could bounce back and no one would be surprised. Chisenhall is coming off a decent year and will get a crack at being a full time starter. Kipnis had an off year but he's a year removed from being an all star and getting MVP votes.

That staff will be fun to watch, too. They could have 3 or 4 guys flirt with 200ks
