Russell Wilson is the reason why he gets sacked so often

Every time Russell Wilson is having a bad game, people's first reaction is "his O-line is awful". Has he had some bad O-line? Yes. Who hasn't. But year after year? Can anyone be that "unlucky"?
People tend to think that Russell Wilson getting sacked, hit, pressured is due to his awful O-line. They ignore that it's his playing style of extending plays is the reason for this. Wilson's style leads to big plays but it also leads to many sacks. Linemen cannot hold their blocks for 5+ seconds.
Wilson came in the league in 2012. Let's look at his sacked ranking in his career
2012-12th
2013-3rd
2014-6th
2015-3rd
2016-2nd
seeing a pattern?
2017-4th
2018-3rd
2019-1st
2020-3rd
2021-13th
So he's essentially top 5 in getting sacked every year except for his rookie year and this year. His rookie year, he threw the least of his career. And this year he missed 3 games. Now if you, extrapolate 2012 and 2021 years to his career avg pass attempts, he would be in the top 5 for both years.
How can someone be this "unlucky" with bad O-line? Only Tannehill from 2013-2015 was in the top 5 in getting sacked. The top 5 QB getting sacked changes year to year except for Russell Wilson.
Football is a game of changes. Each year your teammates change, coaching staff changes, your offensive scheme changes, your opponents change, the players you play against changes. So how is it that year after year, Russell Wilson is always the most sacked QB in the league? Answer: his playing style is the one constant.
Even when you go back to his college days at NCst. His sacked rank
2008-23rd
2009-14th
2010-4th
He transferred from NCst to Wisconsin, a run heavy offense. Badgers went form 91st in sacks allowed to 41st.
Even if Wilson goes to a new team, he will still be one of the most sacked QB in the league due to his playing style.

Yeah the Seahawks need to unload him to the Saints, he's terrible.

Luckily when he’s on the Saints he’ll be coming to a SP offense that offloads the ball really quickly.

All I read was blah blah blah. No mention of Russell taking that huge contract and the Seahawks not having any money to buy o-linemen.

This wouldn’t be a thing if Russell had Terron and Ram at tackles.

Right...blame NCst and Wisconsin for not having money to buy good OLinemen also.

Not a Saints fan but it would be pretty damn cool to see Russell Wilson playing for the saints in the dome

UW threw it around 50 more times with Wilson than the year before.

I live in Seattle and have watched a lot of Hawks games over the past few years. There are a lot of instances where Russ is blown up almost immediately due to bad blocking, definitely not his fault. Having said that, his style of play also contributes and leads to more sacks than somebody like Brady would ever take. It's a combo of the two.

Its the complaint Gene Upshaw had with Jim Plunkett on the Raiders and a contributing factor in Plunkett being a sack machine on the Patriots.
Looking to run too early or breaking the safety of the pocket by dropping too far back. You gotta stand in there with rushers in your face like Marino...who rarely got sacked...and he couldn't move.
Its no surprise Wilson prefers to drop back so deep and/or roll out.
He's barely 5'11"... but that creates sacks.

Same for Burrow

Except Terron and Ram have been hurt a good part of the year, Terron is good for missing games every year and Ram has regressed some. The Saints offensive line has turned into a weakness the last couple of years, especially because Peat, who also gets hurt a bunch, and Ruiz are turnstiles.

You might end up being right, but it’s not obvious after two seasons. The Bengals have had a bottom 3 offensive line in terms of pass block win rate these past two years. Joe had a shorter avg time to throw than anyone in the league his rookie year and was still getting murdered.
His pocket awareness, mobility, and aggression are absolutely crucial to his play style, and we might see him still getting sacked a bunch in year 5 with a better-performing line, but I wouldn’t bet on him being perpetually top-5 like Wilson.
