If I am in a fight with anyone and that option presents itself then some balls are going to be kicked.

Is it your position that it is REASONABLE for Garrett to, once disengaged and Mason has failed to do so, rip off the other person's helmet and then strike them with it?
Is it reasonable? No. Is it a legal assault? No clearly Rudoloh instigated the situation and Garrett shouldn't be held legally liable.

Please answer and defend this as to how the Reasonable Prudent Person would react in that situation.
A reasonable person would've done nothing or just pushed him. I'm not saying his actions are reasonable. He desrved a suspension. I just don't agree with the whole "Rudolph is an innocent victim" narrative that's being spued.

I noticed him kick him the nuts last night and commented on it. You guys on here thinking Mason was the most frustrated guy on the field last night because he had the worst game of his short career. He got hit and exploded and tried to rip Garret’s helmet off and he chose the wrong guy. After he kicked Garret in the nuts, he charged a subdued Garret and he tried to put his helmet back on his head
!!!

What was the point of instigation?

That's not how this works once a weapon is involved.
At all.

You may have a lower IQ than the Op. I’m genuinely sorry.

99% of the trailer park maybe. Even that is a stretch though.

You can't honestly be this stupid, can you? Here was one random case where a helmet is considered to be a weapon. I get the feeling you won't be able to process what you read in that link though.

You need to see a specific case for a football helmet? I'm not going to look for one, but there was a Hockey case from a few years ago, that while on the ice, another player swung his stick at another players helmet-less head, struck him. He was charged with assault with a weapon, was found guilty.
The definition of assault with a deadly weapon is pretty broad in most states.
In La, for instance:
quote:
"Dangerous weapon" includes any gas, liquid or other substance or instrumentality, which, in the manner used, is calculated or likely to produce death or great bodily harm.
That could be any object and has been applied to a WIDE variety of objects. The helmet could very easily be applied under that.

Under the circumstances of the situation a good lawyer could easily argue great bodily injury or death is highly unlikely. Deadly weapon doesn't apply to this scenario.

Have you watched the entire play to process where these snippets youve stolen from twitter came from? Or is this just a racial issue or Aggie issue to you? Garrett takes Rudolph to the ground after the receiver has already caught the ball and began moving upfield. Rudolph tries to push him off of him. Garrett tries to drive his helmet into Rudolph's groin/lower abdomen, Rudolph continues trying to push Garrett off and in the process is now only pushing on Garrett's helmet. Garrett gets up, lifts Rudolph by his helmet, shoves him down then rips his helmet off. Steeler Olineman shields a justifiably pissed off Rudolph from Garrett. Garrett strikes Rudolph with the helmet he removed from him in the head. Chaos ensues.
You watch that process and say Garrett is justified? WTH is wrong with your dumbarse?

You've officially lost all credibility. Have YOU seen what lead up to it? He's forcefully trying to rip his helmet off. I can't take you seriously.

And a good DA could easily argue that it could. Expert testimony would be used to show how striking a helmetless person with such an object from a 270 pound behemoth could produce great bodily harm.
And the DA would almost certainly win that argument.

Garrett's reaction far exceeded what Rudolph initiated.
