I'm not saying its okay for them to rush the court ... I'm just saying the situation is a tad different. We can just let bygones be bygones. FWIW, I don't agree with Roy's bitch move. He should have stayed out there with his TEAM, no matter what. They should have stayed on the bench until police escorts lead them in to the locker room. I am embarrassed for the fans, and the university.
Fair enough

You are so obsessed with UNC that you took the time to look up the women's basketball score? Damn bro, get a life. And by the way, ya might want to mention that it was against UConn. Not the first time they have beat a ranked team like that.

I was trying to see if State won, (We did) and happened upon the score.
But yea, Im obsessed with your failure.

You sound like an Arkansas fan ... Y'all haven't won shite since Valvano lead y'all to the promise land, but yet year in and year out you continue to boast about your 4-5 place finish, like you had a successful season.

State would have as many ships as UNC and Duke if it werent for the sanctions in the 90s. All 3 programs were on the same track but we get hit with that bullshite.

How are the players in any serious danger? They are grown men who can fend for themselves. Pussification of america continues....................................................................................

CHAPEL HILL -- North Carolina coach Roy Williams did not intend to leave five players on the court for the final 14 seconds of the Tar Heels’ 90-57 loss at Florida State on Saturday, a UNC basketball team spokesman said on Monday.
“Roy thought that the walk-ons followed him [off the court], too,” said Steve Kirschner, the director of communications for the UNC athletic department.

So he thought he was forfeiting the game?
Posted on 1/17/12 at 9:52 am to taylork37
Yeah, that's what it sounds like.
quote:
According to Kirschner, Williams asked Hamilton if he would be offended if the game could be declared over with 14 seconds to play. Williams, according to Kirschner, believed that Hamilton had agreed to end the game early.
“Roy’s intention was to just stop it there, bring the whole team off the court and bring Florida State on to celebrate,” Kirschner said.

A certain UNC athletic program knows a lot about this...except for the win part
But I do agree with you, State has been down in athletics for awhile and it will be tough to get back up there with Carolina and Duke in basketball

See I thought Dean Smith was the one with dementia, now I really wonder where Roy is coming up with this stuff. He is super insecure and now realizing how bad his gaffe Saturday was so he is trying to fix it...fail. He does this all the time, acts in the moment (usually foolishly) and then back pedals. He knew his walk ons hadn’t left the court; the game would have been forfeited thus causing an even greater reaction from the FSU crowd.
Been a diehard Carolina fan for life, but this kind of crap is irritating and if you check out the UNC boards there are people who take ole Roy's word as the gospel. His recruiting speaks for itself, but I have always questioned his in-game coaching (2008 Final Four against Kansas anyone). I wish he would just man up and move on b/c The Heels have an important game Thursday night against a desperate Tech team.

I just hope this has no ill affect towards crootin'. If I was a parent and saw that debacle Saturday, I would have second guesses about sending my son off to play for him.

Very good point, I mean this should blow over, but in the meantime they are the laughing stock of college basketball so that could make recruiting tougher. Winning cures all though

I played for a former walk-on under Dean Smith, next time I see him I'd be interested to hear his take. Obviously being a walk-on at Carolina is a dream come true for most of these guys, but what has happened must be embarassing for those five guys

I can't believe this thread is still alive.

I think Roy Williams claiming he didn't know the walk-ons were still out there kind of sparked it back up
