No the umpires and replay crew cost us that one. Betts' hand was clearly in the stands behind the yellow line which by rule should have made it a homerun. That was one of the worst calls I've ever seen I mean it couldn't have been more clear.

good thing is yall should win game 5 so we can watch Boston celebrate on their home field

frick Boston...bunch of lucky arse punks. Benintendi brought the dumbass Arkansas ways to Boston. They are just a bunch of lucky arse punks....that luck could easily turn in the next 3 but we'll see. Sometimes the baseball gods are just against the good guys.

Keep going. A couple more “rangers suck” posts and the NBA and MLB might reverse the results of last nights games.

This is why people call astros fans garbage and bandwagon. Luck doesn’t win 108 games. Luck doesn’t dominate a 100 game winner in the ALDS or put you up 3-1 in the ALCS against another 103 game winner.

This is just such a casual MLB fan take.

Is there an angle down the line?

Betts was never on the wall. His arm was extended towards the crowd.

Fans were on the wall. Their arms extended out toward the field of play.

Not trying to troll but there is no definitive angle to say that Betts was reaching into the crowd

I've seen multiple angles from Red Sox and Stros fans all over twitter with both showing the most flattering angle for their fanhood. I don't think it can be argued that Bett's glove was at or across the yellow line. The question is whether the fan who's hands were in front of Bett's glove made contact with the ball or with his glove before either left the field of play. All the angles show it's a close call, had it been called a HR it wouldn't have been overturned. One of the classic "the play stands" where there isn't enough evidence and you have to go with the ruling on the field.

The fan prevented betts from catching the ball. He was 100% going to catch it before his glove was stopped and closed by running into the fan’s hands.

He had that ball tracked the entire way and made it look fairly routine.

It's insane to assume he would've caught the ball. He might have. He might not have. Saying he was 100% going to catch the ball is incredibly naive.

Also, the dude who "interfered" was basket catching the ball against his stomach. Clearly, that guy wasn't reaching over. Mookie's hand was over the line.

Orange colored lenses... the guy basket catching isn't the one making contact with Betts. This is after contact where a Stro fan can say it's at or over the line and a Sox fan can say the fan is reaching into the field of play. You will see this picture how your fandom tells you to. There wasn't enough evidence either way to confirm or overturn the call on the field.

The Astros did not lose because of this call. They stranded 13 and failed to take advantage of a less than stellar bullpen. You need timely hitting especially in the post-season and can't afford bad baserunning.

Just like Bartman , Troy Caldwell is not the only villain in this. The guy to his right is going for it while the guy to his left almost falls onto the field as he reaches across.

These dumb idiots helped cost the Astros too - don't focus on just Troy. All should be shunned.

@ the Yellow'd out pic

We could have someone on the Fark Board do that and include people's heads from the 3rd row

Yea but luck has a lot to do with this series....over 100+ games no...but over 3, with this umpiring crew, it absolutely does. It was extremely unlucky that Altuve got hurt and couldn't even play 2B. It was extremely unlucky that Altuve's HR in game 4 was called incorrectly. It was extremely lucky for Boston that Kimbrel didn't blow a save in game 4. It was extremely lucky for Boston that Benintendi's dive worked out. It was pretty unlucky for Houston that Verlander hung two curve balls last night.

So yea luck does have something to do with that....What is clear is that Boston isn't that much better, if any better, than Houston from a baseball standpoint. However, in baseball more than any other sport the best team often does not win.
