If they don't get a top 4 seed I cant see them advancing unless they draw denver. They could beat Denver. No way they beat LAL SAS UTA POR or HOU if they don't have the home court. They played out of their minds against the Spurs last year and still came up short, the reality is the hornets are not an elite team, any team relying on rasual butler and james posey to score and byron scott as coach cant win a championship. This is old news.

+1

I think we definitely beat Dallas and Denver

Houston or Portland would be 60/40 65/35 favorites over us in the playoffs IMO

LA or SA would be 75/25

Utah 90/10

We would never beat Portland at their place. Anyway the only way I could see playing them would be an 3-6 matchup with us as the 3.

Denver or Dallas correct.

You are definitely correct on those first four teams, but Houston really? I really have not followed their home track record, are they dominant at home?

Houston is the better team and NO would definitely need the home court advantage for a chance at winning that series, but I would not say it is out of the realm of possibility beating Houston on the road as it would be with those other four teams.

And Portland would not get home court over the Hornets I don't believe. So it is really just LAL, SAS, and Utah they would need to get home court over. LAL and Utah they need to avoid outright though, they really can't beat those two home or away.

27-8 on the season. They had won 13 straight at home before the Lakers won a few nights ago.

Obviously the Rockets are playing better than the Hornets right now, but do you honestly think that NO has no shot against a team that hasn't won a playoff series in over a decade?

Thats basically just like the average of the rest of the Western conference playoff teams though. Not really anything impressive. The only top team in the West that has an impressive home record is Lakers, Portland and Utah are pretty good as well.

Not winning a playoff series in however long means nothing. How long had it been since the celtics won anything prior to last year? Houston is the top defensive team in the west, that doesn't show up in the box score. I have watched over half of the hornets games and 3/4 of houstons games and I've said all year that Hou is better this year. Houston had 23 of 25.at home prior to lsoing to LAL and SAS at homw. Houston isn't on those teams level right now and nobody has said they are, but they are superior to NOH.

Stop getting carried away, they are not superior this season definitely better, that is for sure.

Or were you talking about SAS and LAL being superior to NO, if so then yes they are superior this season.

HOU is superior to new orleans. Everybody sees it but hornets fans.

I was following along with everything you said until that statement, you accuse Hornets fans of homerism, someone might need to look in the mirror for a moment.

I've never said houston was nbetter than lal or sas. They are 3rd and have been for the most part for the past 2 weeks. I am a ho
uston fan but I have been on the money for the most part. Homer? Maybe. But I have a good understanding of the west and the pecking order.

We both agree that the top 2 are on a tier to themselves, but to say that Houston is "Superior" to the Hornets is a bit rich.

Can someone tell me what happened to the rule where a division winner gets placed as the 3rd seed despite other teams having better records?

I saw a mock playoff pairing and it had division leading Denver as the 4th seed.

I'm sorry Boom, you seem like a decent human being, but you know dick about basketball and are ten times more of a homer than any Hornets fan on here. Quit stirring up shite.

they beat the Hornets on the road tonight in a game the :Hornets had to have. I've seen the hornets play several times this year, and it's plain to see, regardless of their record, that the team is not as good as they were last year and barring a 1st rd matchup with dallas will be out in the 1st rd.

BOTH had to have that game , but the Rockets more than the Hornets because of what I mentioned. We are also even in the loss column now(you would be 2 behind us if you lost). I'm not going to disagree with you about the Hornets prospects without a bench. My point is that the West(exc. the Lakers) and even the SW division is a crap shoot right now.....anyone that wants it bad enough can get it.... Including the Hornets

Sure thing. It never existed. Now there was, and still is, a rule that says a division winner can have no lower than a 4 seed. Hence the Rockets playing Utah with home court advantage the last 2 years, eventhough we were the 5 seed and Utah was the 4.
