How much $$$ did West Virginia pay (exit fees to the Big East) to join the Big 12? Was it 8 years ago?

Now we're going to be asking questions like "can Tennessee win the SEC Central this year?" and "will Oregon make the playoffs as a Wild Card team?"

9 years ago. Joined in 2012. It was 20 million, WVU paid 11, Big 12 paid 9.

I’m not a Big 12 guy but didn’t Baylor just win a title? Also, wasn’t Texas Tech in the final a couple of years ago?

Yes
A great basketball conference

Preach. Same as everything else. Consolidation in the name of the all mighty dollar. History and tradition be damned.

Tbh, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal if it stopped at 4 16 team conferences, but it won’t. It’s all headed towards some 30-40 team super league type crap. NFL lite.

Once it gets to 64 teams the knives will be pointed toward teams like Wake Forest, Oregon State, Northwestern, Vanderbilt for taking more money than they produce.

Yep. Only the schools that bring in the most money should be celebrating all of this. Anyone else is vulnerable. Long standing SEC members may find themselves on the outside of things in another 15 years.

The old Big East was quite solid as well back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

The old big East football sucked, even with Miami.

Now basketball on the other hand….
