Former coach Rick Pitino has sued the University of Louisville Athletic Association for $37.6 million, saying it breached his contract by placing him on unpaid administrative leave without notice and then firing him last month with no legally justified cause.

Nah, he's just greasy. He's too old to outlive his inevitable show-cause, so he might as well try and get what he can.

And why are people hating on Rick for filing a lawsuit? Gotta go out swinging.

He will probably get a settlement out of this just so they can avoid legal fees and continued negative publicity.

lol

Louisville lawyers going to uncover a can of worms on him. He will be lucky to ever coach again, once they get done uncovering all of his dirty dealings.

The sick part of me surmises that Rick's really only doing this so he can tank the entire Louisville basketball program irreparably beyond what has transpired regarding the scandal and that, implicitly, it has nothing to do with money bc once he's under discovery, it's over and he probably knows it too. Just my (sick) take of course.

One, he knows he's never going to coach again so he has nothing to lose from that regard. As far as getting embarrassed by what is uncovered once the legal process starts rolling? I think he is playing legal chicken hoping they blink first and cut him a check before their dirty laundry is aired.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. This x 1000. He knows if the case ever sees a courtroom it will be laughed out. He's hoping Louisville will give him one last payday to make him go away and out of the public spotlight.

I'm surprised both sides haven't settled already bc dude's been fired for a month and a half and he's threatened suit since the moment UL moved to terminate him, probably negotiation breakdown or something. May as well go out swinging.

he's gonna have a shite ton of hooker money if he wins that lawsuit. #1 reason he's going for that money IMO.

It's worth a shot even if you are guilty of being fired. that much money, I think anyone would be stupid not too.
