It was satirical. The point of the article was that Duke is demonized, seemingly, by all of college basketball. The representation of Coach K was not editorializing the writer or paper's view of Duke or Coach K but highlighting how he is perceived - somewhat unfairly might I add - by opposing schools. The fact that people, including Krzyzewski, are unable to see what the photo represents is shocking to me. It was a clever, attention-grabbing picture that was perfectly in line with the article. Too bad no one has a sense of humor anymore.

Bottom line - it was juvenile and it was stupid and it shouldn't have run on the front page of the sports section a day before the Final Four starts. And with the Indy Star apologizing in print to Coach K, the writers and editors of the paper agree with me.

"It didn't meet our standards," Lefko said. "It was one of those ideas that you start throwing around and by the time it came together, it was on deadline. ... It didn't get vetted."
Lefko said he called Duke officials Friday morning before some knew what had happened.
"When you are wrong, you admit," said Lefko, "and you apologize."
Lefko said the paper also plans an apology column in Saturday's editions.

Jeauxbleaux, you speak the truth. Those who say otherwise are the ones who are participating in the nonsense. For example, someone claimed that Obama deserves the hatred directed at him. I sincerely doubt that the poster can actually cite any legit reasons for his treasonous statement (FWIW, I felt that some of the Left Wing vitriol directed at Bush was also treasonous) and given the attitude around here, I would not be surprised if it were based on something more sinister than "he's a Democrat".

You don't even know what the word 'socialist' means. Seriously, dude, if you actually looked at Obama's economic policies, you'd realize that they are the exact opposite of socialism. Everyting that the dude has done has been for the benefit of private industry, especially health care.

OK, so we generally agree that MSM is favorable to Barry (because most are liberal and voted for him and Dems)
but tend to dislike Duke/Coach K.
Would it be Politically Correct for USA Today to post a similar pic of Barry on Front Page,

Though I admitted to hating Duke in this thread, if you read this thread and the Coach K thread, my hatred has not been blind. In fact, I supported the concept that Duke has had extremely talented rosters because Coach K is a great recruiter and deserves credit for building the juggernaut.
Here, I think it's that Duke fans are looking for a slight where none existed. You have to want to be insulted to be insulted by that front page.
That's because Duke is a bunch of whiny cry babies (THAT'S Duke hatred).
