I said the same thing here last year. It’s the players on the field that have more of an impact than the manager. But that’s how places like this usually are. When someone loses it always the manager or coaches fault while all the players somehow get a free pass. I don’t get it either.

Baseball managers have by far the smallest actual in game impact of any coach in sports
I want a manager who has a strong relationship with the front office, who has a shared vision of where he wants the organization to go with the front office, who is able to take what the front office gives him and effectively relay it to the players, and above all I want a manager who understands his team and can manage the clubhouse. He checks all the boxes
Not every move works out, but that happens to everybody. Hes not above criticism on individual moves, but the criticism he does get goes far beyond that and it's just so unfair

kenley literally just got 4 outs without any problems and his velo and movement have been great this whole October and was facing the bottom half of the lineup.
Baez has been extremely effective as a setup man, why not let him pitch the 8th and Jansen go the 9th?
why not let Baez face a third hitter in game 1 instead of Alex Wood whom had already given up 2 home runs in the playoffs?

Because I have more faith in kenley for 6 outs than I do baez for three. Hes done it multiple times, hes being paid 15 million dollars, and hes done nothing but dominate this October. Hes our guy and hes looked the part since game 163. That is literally managing with your eyes and going with the hot hand

Baez's postseason has been just as strong as Kenley's. I generally don't like 6 outs from the closer when the setup man is as effective as Baez has been. If this was 2017 Jansen, I have less of a problem; He just hasn't quite been himself this year.
That said, and I think we're on the same page, the game 1 decision to pull Baez was much more egregious. Wood's been bad in the playoffs, it was asinine to pull Baez in favor of him.
overall, I don't blame Roberts. it's the Dodgers general philosophy, and it comes from upstairs.
Their hitting philosophy is a whole other story.

Jansen’s numbers when trying to go 2 innings are not good
But I’m not a Dodgers fan, so I hope he keeps getting put in that situation when facing the Astros in the future.
I understand what he did prior to postseason last year, but he never went beyond an inning
He has been gas on fire going beyond 1 inning since Marwin stung him.
