The tax-exempt status for college athletics should be revoked.

I didn’t realize this was a thing.

Yes it should.

Not really.., I member trips to the Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, and Orange Bowls being celebrated… I remember when we were happy going to the Chic-fil-a bowl… hell we celebrated the 95 & 97 Independence Bowls(my first LSU game i ever attended against ND)

College football sucks for you because your team fricking sucks.

For the rest of the country it has been one of the best seasons of College football that I can remember. Every Saturday has turned into a massive Saturday of games.

We all knew that NIL was nothing but a legalized bagman system. I’m shocked so many fans are aghast at the dollar amounts. It’s been happening under the table for decades and no one said a word because most SEC teams were benefitting. I’m in South Georgia not far from Auburn and I personally know and am friends with Auburn bagmen. Now that the bagman system is out and legal paying is in you now see the teams who didn’t cheat before now moving up with legal money.

There are a lot of people out there with a lot of money and it doesn’t always equal to the “Johnson” measuring contest of who has the biggest stadiums and can “take over” opposing teams stadiums like in the past. That’s peanuts. Just wait until schools alter rules to tap endowment money. Vandy would dominate the SEC if they chose too and GT and SMU could buy anyone. My point is that we are seeing an era tyoe change no different than changes that led to the downfall of teams winning Natties in the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s.

Coaching salaries, revenue share and only one team is gonna be happy at end of season
No way programs can continue to sustain this level of spending with boosters throwing in the towel

College is staring down the barrel of being AAA baseball. It's obvious at this point most players of note are mercenaries.

They have significantly deeper pockets than a program like LSU.

Not in their athletic departments they don’t. Their rich alumni couldn’t care less about sports for the most part. Most of them also aren’t local or even from this country. They get massive donations for their actual university, not to be good at sports.

Could they if they wanted to? Sure. But they never have so why would they all of the sudden start now?

If we were honest about NIL, 99.99 percent of these athlete’s name image and likeness are virtually worthless in the actual marketplace. Anybody that believes a random position player at a random school commands the absurd amounts they are paid in the open market is a fool. It’s even more so ridiculous to believe any athlete coming out of highschool has a marketable value in relation to their NIL. College athletics as a whole is a massive financial bubble waiting to be popped because boosters have created an artificial marketplace that masquerades as paying players their market value. At some point when it sinks in that their is no real return on investment, they’ll bail and the entire marketplace will crash like the dot com bubble in the 90’s.

Agree with all of this

The NFL salary cap is based on the NFL's total revenue, including ticket sales and local revenue

The only ticket sales that are included are for the HOF game, Super Bowl, and International games. Those aren’t “local” revenue. Same thing for other revenue sources with those games. National sponsorships are calculated for the cap but local sponsorships aren’t.
