I still can't believe Colorado has a claim to the 1990 national championship. What a joke.
They were a legit team with a legit schedule. Everyone knocks them though (and rightfully so) because of the 5th down and the Orange Bowl phantom clip.

It's before 1984, but the only team worse than them to win the AP title I can think of is the 1984 BYU team.
BYU didn't play a single team who finished ranked. I'm confident we would've at least won the AP or Coaches without the bowl ban.

As a Bama fan, no they weren't.
I doubt that the 2009 UA team would even beat the 2016 UA team.
I think 2012 would beat both. AJ was out of his mind that season and they had Coop.

Also worth pointing out the 09 Bama team achieved a 2 TD MOV against those 10 winning teams.

Easily.

Surprisingly, Washington didn't win or at least split with BYU that year

They also lost 1 game whereas the 09 team lost ZERO against the 2nd toughest SOS through which they achieved a 21 pt MOV.

So? The 2012 team was still a lot better.

They lost to USC rather late in the season, I believe. It was tough to claw back up the polls back then.
BYU also benefited from a logjam of other teams at the top that dropped a game or two. It was like 2007-lite when you look at the poll variability from week to week.

How can the 2012 Tide team be "a lot better" when they played a weaker schedule than 09 and still lost 1 game? This logic does not compute.

Again, best record doesn't always equal best team. Was Western Michigan better than LSU last year?

Corey Davis is a better player than anybody LSU had last year.

Thats irrelevant, it makes zero sense to place teams that lost ONE game with weaker schedules over teams with ZERO losses and tougher schedules, particularly teams with 21 pt MOV over those tough teams aggregate in conjunction with 2 TD MOV over the 10 .+500 teams they played in 2009. That's the basic premise of college football, is this too hard to comprehend?
Posted on 6/8/17 at 2:58 pm to ThePTExperience1969
Better talent, way better offense. Schedule wasn't much different. 2012 would beat 2009 8 times out of 10.
Posted on 6/8/17 at 3:00 pm to pvilleguru
2012 Bama played the nation's 14th toughest SOS and lost 1 game, 2009 Bama played the 2nd toughest and lost zero. Case closed.

Go back and watch the games. You can't tell me with a straight face that 2009 would beat 2012.

2nd toughest schedule in 2009 isn't necessarily tougher than 14th in 2012. College football had better teams at the top in 2012 than in 2009. 2012 was the single best season in SEC history. You could make a case that the 6 best teams in college football that year were Alabama, Georgia, A&M, Florida, South Carolina, and LSU.

Bama played 10 +.500 teams in 09 and incurred ZERO losses as opposed to only 7 in 12 with ONE LOSS in the W-L column, so go ahead keep reaching bro with more illogical rebuttals. Evidence always trumps those extrapolations you're generating.

Go watch both teams play and tell me who you honestly think was the better team. Plenty of full games available on YouTube.
2012 Alabama was better than 2009 Alabama. 1995 Nebraska was more dominant than any other team in college football history.
Posted on 6/8/17 at 3:27 pm to ThePTExperience1969
The 2012 Texas A&M would probably beat everyone Alabama played in 2009.
