No I did see it fool

The SMU DB's blew the game. They always show highlights of that game during bowl week and Holiday Bowl previews.

BYU MU game also was like that but didn't take a bomb to win it.

2000 Independence Snow Bowl. It had it all blizzard conditions, Sherrill playing against his old school, high scoring, and overtime.

I can recall every bowl game since 1980, who played in the game, and where I was when the game was played. Here are some random one's I remember.

1980 Hall of Fame Bowl in a freezing Birmingham between Arkansas and Tulane. Hogs won like 34-15.

1981 Liberty Bowl- Navy played their arses off and almost beat tOSU 31-27.

1982 Independence Bowl- watched some of this game at a Howard's in the electronics section while my Mom shopped. Wisconsin beat K-State like 14-3.

I could go on and on for probably three days with this stuff.

The 2009 Humanitarian Bowl. Idaho beat Bowling Green 43-42. The Vandals finished 8-5 for one of their best seasons.

I missed your "nondescript" qualifier.

I remember a few Baylor Liberty Bowls from the 1980s. I think the Bears played in more than one Liberty Bowl, can't recall.

I can sort of remember the SMU-BYU Holiday Bowl (same decade).

Back then, the saying as related to bowl games was, "Commodities over concepts," i.e. Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton were superior in prestige (and payout) to pissant Holiday, Freedom, Liberty, Fiesta (yes, Fiesta).

A lot of those lesser bowl games were televised on Raycom or the Mizlou Network. Google it for YouTube videos.

There was nothing better than Frank Fallon doing the Raycom SWC Game of the Week.

Mizlou did a bunch of bowl games.

Another couple games that just popped to memory was Temple in the Garden State Bowl in the Meadowlands. I have no clue who they played though.

Wisconsin played Kentucky in a game

UK had George Adams and Wisconsin had a RB that was just like Walter Payton (number, face mask, mouthpiece, cleats)

Did Frank Fallon do Raycom SWC football? I can only remember him doing Raycom SWC basketball.

I can vividly remember Ron Franklin doing the SWC Raycom Game of the Week.

Edit: I think Merle Harmon did Raycom SWC football in the early 80s.

Yeah he did. I remember him doing a few Baylor games and Bayou Bucket game (Tommy Kramer wasn't drunk that game)

Franklin was main guy, but at times they had split schedules.

Arkansas DFW area would get Baylor/Texas (Main game)
Houston West/Texas would get Coog High/Tortilla Chuckers (nobody cared about that game)

Don't mean to stray from the topic, but I must wax nostalgic for the Southwest Conference. I can barely remember the 1970s SWC, but I can remember very well the early 80s onward.

Football -- Texas and Arkansas were rolling, SMU was too, Baylor was resurgent, Tech had some good teams (OK, not really), UH wasn't that bad (esp. late 70s). A&M was coming on under Sherrill.

Basketball -- UH with Phi Slamma Jamma, Arkansas with Eddie Sutton, Texas with Abe Lemons.

Baseball -- Texas completely dominated college baseball in the 1980s, Arkansas was good, too.

Kentucky played Wisconsin in the 1984 All-American Bowl at Legion Field. It was on TBS, and I think UK won 20-19.

Baylor played and beat LSU 21-7 in the 1985 Liberty Bowl. I think LSU was 9-1-1 and had to play in the Liberty which, along with the Gator and Sun, was more prestigious back then.
