tebow has a ton of talent, bro. he carries 235 lbs really well and is agile and fast. he has a good-strong arm

he just has a shitty throwing motion (which means it's a failure on his part to work on his skills ) and possibly lacks mental ability

How was he supposed to "stop him" while scoring the bulk of the Rockets' points and leading a team of inferior talent to a sweep?

maybe not stop him, but shouldnt the best defensive player in NBA history, during his prime, at least be able to hold Shaq to below his season averages?

It's ok, you can just admit he couldnt stop him. No one could. No need to make stupid excuses.

How many people "stopped" Hakeem? Or Robinson or Ewing for that matter? Hakeem's defensive ability is diminished because he couldn't hold Shaq below 28 ppg while himself scoring most of the Rockets points?

Wasn't it MJ who said that?

Yep...

"If I had to pick a center, I would take Olajuwon. That leaves out Shaq, Patrick Ewing. It leaves out Wilt Chamberlain. It leaves out a lot of people. And the reason I would take Olajuwon is very simple: he is so versatile because of what he can give you from that position. It's not just his scoring, not just his rebounding or not just his blocked shots. People don't realize he was in the top seven in steals. He always made great decisions on the court. For all facets of the game, I have to give it to him."

I still wish Shaq would've swallowed his pride and learned to shoot FTs underhand. Dude would have averaged about 30-35 ppg.

So me shooting 40 percent at the foul line is just God’s way of saying that nobody’s perfect. If I shot 90 percent from the line, it just wouldn’t be right

Clyde Drexler, Sam Cassel, Robert Horry and crazy arse Vernon Maxwell (Jordan Killer) were pretty solid talents.

In their primes?

Shaq was the most dominant center in NBA history in his prime.

Without question. And frick bill russel's rings.

Top 5 sports story-everyone claimed that Wilt was to selfish to win championships, so he led the NBA in assist the next year. Still did not have enough to win championship.
He did whatever he wanted. Freak athlete

It's funny because perception = reality. And you talk to anyone and this is pretty much what they remember. Kareem had the skyhook...and Shaq had the above...that was Shaq defined for history...fair or not.

tiger2012798426 is one of the laker fanboys on this site who has turned on shaq, which seems pathetic that LSU fans would turn on one of their own due to an obsession with Kobe

Exactly! Why is it held against shaq that he was big and strong? That's like holding the fact that mj could jump high against him. He used what God gave him. Does anyone fault john alway or dan Marino because they can throw really hard?

You are calling him the best defensive player to ever walk the earth.

Was Hakeem not asked to score a lot of point all the time? When exactly did he earn best defensive player on the planet while maintaining his 20PPG+ scoring average?

you make no sense.

Not everyone. Doesnt mean there was a huge talent gap

Clyde Drexler is a HOF'er and before he was aiding the Rockets to championships, he was taking the Blazers deep into the playoffs. One of the most overlooked players in NBA history.

The NBA was at the start of its "urban age". Penny and Shaq were cool and immensely hyped. It doesnt mean their team was that much better.

It shouldn't be...but i'm glad you guys brought it up because it is the EXACT argument that is used against Chamberlain in these debates. "oh everybody that he played against back then was 5-9..." which is a myth in and of itself, but even if it were true, it'd be irrelevant.

I'm not old enough to have watched Hakeem much but he must have been pretty damn good if he was better than shaq. Shaq between like 99-03 was the best offensive basketplayer I've ever seen, easily. He was just on another level.
