If the saints were hand wrapped the Lombardi after Katrina or whatever annual storm that was, I don’t see why this would be out of the question.

WITHOUT QUESTION. It was obviously decided by tNFL etal PTB that in the wake of Katrina's hurricane destruction that the Saints (and City of Nawlins) would be a sentimental victor, "healed" by Saints' SB win.

And yes, I am one of those that believes the league for the most part is like the WWE in regards to outcomes.

I am honestly flabbergasted that thinking people who've watched the NFL for any number of years can't see the scripting and embarrassingly wonky play (or rather, don't want to see it) -- especially in the last few of years.

The number of "last minute/last SECONDS") shenanigans that have created the weekly NFL-headline, "INSANE ENDING!!" defies ANY odds.

Lame "tackling" (turribly theatric flailing, diving attempts), multiple defenders allowing basic walk-in TDs, DBs routinely giving 10-yard cushions at "crunch time," QB running as though its Flag Football, Ridiculous Ref calls....and BETTING LINES (Point Spreads / Under/Overs / Stat Padding, etc etc.

To the skeptics:

Do yourself a favor: Plug in any 1980s playoff game. (like say Giants vs. Skins / Eagles / Montana's 49ers...

Pay attention to the tackling techniques, gang tackling, DB-Receiver interaction, the grinding drives -- and the players disliking each other & taking things personally (instead of laughing together after plays, patting each other on the azz, and exchanging uniforms post-game.)

LOL@ citing "IQ"

You just helped make the case.

If having to face Rex Grossman and worst "NFC "Champ" ever (THAT Bears Team) wasn't a simple lay-up for the Saints (and evidence that the NFL wanted the Saints to win the SB) -- then what was??

Well, it wasn’t a layup considering the saints lost you tard

Do you even recall any details from that game?

Its not scripted, it's just poorly played football

Why not both?

Poorly played football and "sloppy tackling" (by design) helps gives plausibility for claims of "It's rigged."

Then again, there are other Script-Factors -- like dopey Coach decisions like NOT kicking insurance FGs, going for loooong yardage 1st downs on 4th down...AND ALSO constant bad Ref "roughing" and phantom drive-stalling/continuing penalties, "missed assignments," key fumbles, etc.

The LAST STRAW: Football Betting ruined the last vestiges of believing in NFL integrity.

But...is it still "Entertaining"?? Obviously. (But as in the past of dead-serious opponents and contests where outcomes and scores are NOT controlled?? )

Those days are long over, Amigos.

From 15 years ago? Afraid not.

That the Saints somehow DID somehow make it to the Super Bowl in 2007 was still a "gift."

That said, you're right. I mixed up 2007 with the "payback" win by the Saints win over the Colts in 2010.

Now...why are you still avoiding addressing the MAGNETIC GLOVES video that was presented?

Gonna deny that?

'IS THIS REAL?' NFL fans baffled as ‘cheating’ Houston Texans appear to GLUE glove to ball during game

Pitre snagged the INT in the third quarter of the game at the NRG Stadium, with Houston trailing 3-28....

The former Baylor star skipped off to celebrate, pretending to throw the ball into the stands.

In the process, the ball remained gripped into his glove as he shook it to try and release it free.

Pitre then took off his glove, which stayed stuck on top of the ball before it was dropped to the ground.

Nothing to see here either. The football was STUCK to the ball. So the player just removed his glove -- WITH THE FOOTBALL STILL ATTACHED. "It's just a bit too much glue".

Folks, this story is being scrubbed as we speak.

Hurry and check it out (VIDEO)

It still amazes me that it has to be explained to some people that a billion-dollar industry would do what it feels necessary to maximize profits.

More amazing is people that think they’d jeopardize that billion dollar industry committing open fraud by rigging things for certain matchups that may have marginally better tv ratings
Not sure where the fraud is. Businesses do what they can to maximize profits. That's not fraud. That's business.

Besides, the NFL has been quite obvious for many years now, pointing and laughing all the way to the bank at the dumbed down who still believe in Santa Claus, and they're still in business.

Too big to fail comes to mind.

Also, while TV ratings are the driving force, it isn't the only one. Gambling is monstrous, and merch sales are very important as well.

But keep on thinking that the NFL is just a simple game. That multi-billion-dollar industry depends on your naivete. Not unlike the Corporation of the United States of America.

There's a difference between scripted and emphasis.

NFL isn't WWE. No one believes that.

But like that degenerate gambler ref in the NBA admitted, we were told to keep games close...control the game by David Stern for fan interest.

I'm sure each league has directives to encourage growth, money and positive outcomes... And in the NFL if one team wins with a feels good story, all the teams win....revenue sharing.

The NFL is in the business of making money, selling the brand, and being filthy rich, every owner. The NFL structurally is a Private Members Only Socialistic Cabal.

Al Davis complained his whole life about how the league was out to get him because he didn't fall in line with rest of the Owners. Only owner who liked him was Jerry Jones.

Rozzelle called Al a conspiracy nut for exposing the underbelly and politics of this so very secret organization known as the NFL owners

Best explanation in here.

In the book, the NBA ref explained how easy it was to influence games. They would call some ticky tack fouls on the teams best player to put him on the bench and that team was at an immediate disadvantage. From there, calling fouls at different points of the game would seal the deal for the games they wanted to win.

They had an incredible win rate on games they were trying to influence.

To think the nfl isn't in the same type of business would be absurd. Calling penalties to extend or stop drives is an easy way to favor one team over another. How many times have you looked at your teams loss and singled out like 2 or 3 plays that 'screwed you'? A ton

Lastly about the nfl, the refs themselves. That's about as tight knit of a group as you can get. There's no getting into that group on merit. It's purely an invite only group. There's also been little to no oversight on penalties for when they screw up.
