I’d also recommend taking the L to the park. There’s little parking near Wrigley and I don’t recommend the bus lots. Park downtown, ride the Red Line to Addison.

Thanks. Yeah I have no illusions of driving around in the city. We’re staying at a hotel in Schaumberg and taking the train in.

Any dinner recs would be greatly appreciated as well. Not fancy and expensive as it’s just my son and me. Just good.

Of course we’re gonna have some deep dish pizza at some point. Probably lunch. Thinking Giordanos but open to suggestions.

Pizano’s is pretty good for deep dish too.

There are a few of them in Chicago but this is the original location.

Have you stayed out there before? This is where my inlaws live. You will most likely need to take the train all the way downtown and then walk to the red line which is a nice little walk (and minus the Sears Tower (I will never call it anything else) not much to see.

If you are lazy like me, I usually pay between 45-55 for ubers from downtown to Schaumburg or vice versa. Yes, traffic can be a pain, but keep it as an option.

Or it might be easier to get someone to drop you off in Rosemont and take the blue line down. Much easier to get rides from there to Wrigley from the El than the train.

This is tons of great info. Thanks to everybody. Yeah I had kinda assumed I could just hop different trains to get where I need to go. Realizing it may not be so easy.

And so Pizano’s over Giordanos?

If you are out in Schaumburg, Lou Malnatis is great for pizza also.

So the El (Or is it L?) and the train into the city (METRA?) are two different things? And I would have to get off of the Metra and find my way to an L? Is that somewhat how it woiks?

Correct. The train line (Metra) runs into Union Station and some out west train stations coming into the city. You would then walk 6-8 blocks to the Red Line north.

And some of my inlaws neighbors take the bus from Rolling Meadows which is right on the border of Schaumburg.

Honestly, I'm not a deep dish fan, and I find them all to be very similar...UNO, Geno's, Giordonno's, Piquod's, Lou Malnati's...had all of these. But if you must, and I think you probably feel obligated as I once did when you go there, I'd take Lou Malnati's.

I just can't acquire a liking for the crust. The cheese, sauce and toppings are usually fine from all these places, the crust just always disappoints me. Not my thing. But by all means see if you like it, as I said, IMHO there is little difference between any of those places so if you do like it you'll probably be fine choosing any of them.

As for the L it can take some time from where you're coming and that may be a reason to uber, but it will save you money, drops you right there at
Wrigley (eventually) and can give you a scenic tour of the city visually you won't quite get from cabbing.

Man I’m pretty much the same!! I’ll like it for one sitting there, I have no doubt, but I SO love NY style. It’s just the best!!

Thanks man!! Every reply has been very helpful and this one is as well.

Source: lives in Chicago for 10 years including 3 years walking distance to Wrigley.

I have been to probably 50-75 games at Wrigley and agree with everyone else that the bleachers are where you should sit. When i sit bleachers I get there early and grab a seat on the top row. Reason being, you can stand up and have more room than if you’re stuck in the middle of a row...personal preference. There’s a ton of badass bars around Wrigley to hang out st before the game. If you end up sitting bleachers, go to Murphy’s which is just across the street from the bleacher entrance. Try and grab a seat facing the bleachers so you can keep an eye on the line.

For pizza, either you love deep dish or you hate it. Personally, I hate it. There is so much other good pizza in the city (Parlor Pizza for one) but if you have to have deep dish then Pequods is the place to go, hands down.

If I may, Why TF are you staying in Schaumburg? You’re going to hate that commute to the city each day. You could probably get an Airbnb for pretty cheap if it’s a money thing.

This is solid advice. Ten steps away from a beer cart. Restrooms right around the corner.

Bars are very close by, no matter seat in bleachers. Very easy access.

Have tickets in hand before going to the stadium. I was up there at the end of May and the scalpers have lost their frickin mind. They're asking for $150+ for bleacher seats and some people are paying it

Buy tickets online now.

i've bought tickets to a couple of games using craigslist a couple years ago

went to the chicago area craiglist, and several buyers offered to send digital tickets, or by mail

i got some bleacher tickets mailed by a season ticket holder, which meant we got to get into the bleachers earlier than the GA crowd. this only worked with physical tickets though, but things may have changed by now

I've been away from Chicago for 3 years but we used to go scalp tickets in the 2nd or 3rd inning for 75% off what they would have charged before the game. We didn't care about being there for 1st pitch, so we would hang out in the bars a little longer and then walk over to the scalpers that were still around. If there was nothing to be had then we had our pick of which bar to go to and then sit there for the rest of the game and watch the crowd come out.
