Dwight Howard might eventually get one with blocks, CP3, don't see it happening.

One of the rarest achievements in basketball. CP3 has been pretty close twice this year. Do you think Chris Paul will become only the 5th NBA player to get to this mark?

A quick calculation to estimate the odds. This isn't extremely scientific but I think should give a good idea.

Let's estimate the odds that he gets double digits in each category:
Points: He has scored double digits in all 41 games this year. last year, in 80 games, he went below that 3 times. So let's say he does it 97% of the time.
Rebounds: He's had double digits 5 times in 41 games. Let's say 12%
Assists: 29 times in 41 games. Let's say 70%
Steals: Trickiest one because he's never done it. His career high is 9. The NBA record is 11, done twice. FYI Fat Lever in 1985 had 8 steals in a quarter.
Alvin Robertson had 10 steals in a game four times. He has the NBA career record, 2.71 steals per game. He played in 779 games, so got double digit steals in 0.51% of his games.
CP3 is at 2.8 per game this year, but 2.4 for his career. Based on his career SPG vs Robertson's, I'll give CP3 a 0.45% chance of doing it in any game.

So, his odds would be, based on this:
.97 x .12 x .7 x .0045 = 0.036666%, or 1 quadruple double every 2,727 games, over 33 full seasons.

So you'd expect it to not happen, but it's not extremely unlikely or anything.

Really the damn wikipedia site that the OP linked confirms four times....come on man

I think he meant Alvin Robertson is the only one to do it with the 10 steals. The other three relied on blocks.

Dwight Howard would be a possibility because he could easily block 10 shots in a game. He would have a better chance getting 10 assists than 10 steals. If he kicks out to a hot shhoter, he's given an assist. Can't see a big man with 10 steals and 10 rebounds. They kinda prevent the other from happening.

Dwight Howard has already gotten a triple double with blocks, but only had 3 assists.

He could easily get one eventually

I think Tony Parker, Baron Davis, and Derron Williams are three other guys besides Paul capable of doing it. I'm really surprised Jason Kidd did not do it earlier in his career.

It's MUCH easier to do now than it was when he did it, because a game can easily go to a shootout and be settled with penalty shots.

Yeah, but you don't add the empty netter in a game that's going to a shootout.

It's got to come on a true penalty shot.

The problem with that is you are assuming its all mutually exclusive. When a player has a "good game" that tends to come with all those other categories too.

The fact that he never has had 10 steals is the bottleneck though

so being 3 steals away is not close at all.

Eh, he was about 70% of the way there

Yes, 7 out of 10 is 70%.

Whats harder is the triple double-double. 20/20/20 I think Kareem or someone was the only person to do it.

What was the 3rd 20 in? The NBA record for blocked shots in a game is 17. No way he had 20 assists or steals in a game. Are you making stuff up again?

It was Chamberlain.

# Double-triple-double: this feat requires at least 20 of any 3 statistics. Wilt Chamberlain is the only player to have accomplished this; in a February 2, 1968 game, Chamberlain's statistics were 22 points, 25 rebounds, and 21 assists.[8]
