Until recently, Sanchez ranked in the top 10 of NFL QB career playoff passer ratings. And it wasn’t exactly a small sample size. He had played in 6 playoff games by the end of his second year (Jets were 6 seeds both years and progressed to the AFC championship game both seasons).

He still ranks in the Top 12.
. And now he is remembered for the butt fumble. That is some crazy shite.

Danny White? I guess he backed up Staubach for a few years so maybe doesn't count.

Technically. Reached it in year 5 but year 1 as a starter.

Daunte Culpepper led the Vikings to the NFC championship game year 2 in 2000

Warner made it in his second year sticking with an NFL team, but he had played pro ball before and was in training camps. I would vote no on him.

The Jets had a 2 year window for getting to the Super Bowl playing RexRyanball. (The Jets had the ball late in the 2010 AFC Championship game against the Steelers with the chance to take the lead.)

Bad personnel decisions and Sanchez hitting his ceiling ended whatever chance they had. Also, keeping Ryan on as head coach for 3 seasons too long.

Brady - 199th pick 2000. NE was 8-8 year before.
Roethlisberger - 11th pick 2004. Pit was 6-10 year before.
Wilson - 75th pick 2012. Sea was 7-9 year before.
Marino - 27th pick 1983. Mia was 14-4-1 and lost in the super bowl the year before.
Kaepernick - 36th pick 2011. SF was 6-10 year before.
Mahomes - 10th pick 2017. KC was 12-4 and lost in divisional round the year before.
Flacco - 18th pick 2008. Bal was 5-11 the year before.
Kosar - Supp draft amid controversy. Cle was 5-11 the year before.
Collins - 5th pick 1995 expansion draft.
Sanchez - 5th pick 2009. NY was 9-7 the year before.
Burrow - 1st pick 2020. Cin was 2-14 the year before.

Burrow definitely took over the worst team of any of these listed.

Marino, Mahomes, and Sanchez taking over the best teams.

He was the back up QB for 5-6 years

Yes, but he punted the Cowboys to a SB victory in his second season.

8 of the 11 QBs on this list reached the Super Bowl at some point in their careers. That’s pretty good odds.

5 of the 11 actually won Super Bowls.
