Gotta agree:

I'll also nominate Ernie Banks.
As far as I know, he hasn't murdered anyone lately, he's extremely accessible to fanx. Which is doubly impressive when you consider that they're Cubs fans.

I know this guy has battled his share of demons, but I'll go w John Daly here. Met him at HP/Compaq Classic a few years back. Was driving out of parking lot & saw him out of the corner of my eye working in his merchandise trailer (had just withdrawn having jacked up his wrist hitting a ball from behind a big arse tree root)

Anyway, I said "holy frick that's Daly in the trailer, we gotta go check this out". Not knowing what to expect, we walk up & ask how his wrist is doing. He says "been better, but at least I have plenty of beer". He then asks "you guys drink beer?"

Uh, yes sir!

He proceeds to give us each a beer & a free "Long John Grip It & Rip It" coozie which he signed without us asking.

His little bitch arse manager chimes in with "guys that'll be $10 each for those coozies" - to which Daly replies "shut up man. I'm havin a beer w my fans"

Such a great moment

Some guys off the top of my head: David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, Shane Battier, Drew Brees, Warrick Dunn, and Paul Shirley.

Never met him, but I had some friends who lived by Corey Bradford and they all said he was a very nice guy. Jay Williams is very nice in person and is pretty much the exact same guy off camera as he is on.

Hershel Walker

Tony Gwynn and Marques Colston also came to mind right away but I see they were mentioned.

I thought, even at the time, going into Iraq was a horrible idea, and that was before I was 100% sure that we didn't have a clear objective, plan to accomplish that objective, and exit strategy but I don't hate America. Many people turn their back on our current president every day, does that mean they hate America? In addition, sometimes I think that those that call out people like Nash (who all indications are that he's of high character) just because of different political views and nothing else, makes me think that they themselves have a distorted view of exactly what America is.

Ok some people's reading comprehension skill are not very good. Not just eddie several others on here.

Some background. I went into Kosovo in 99 for 2 months then straight to iraq for 3 months, Afghanistan on 9-17-01 for 8 months, and then with a bunch of leave saved up and 6 months from getting out, my plan was to start taking the time off to search for a job and what happens I'm sent to Iraq again in 03. So I was not personally happy about going in, but I did it. I also think Bush knee jerked on it. My point is I would have much rather been state side looking for a job then in Iraq.

I am one them. I also didn't like Bush that much. I'm a Libertarian. I have not seen a president I like in a while.

I am sure he has done some decent things, but he turned his back on the flag in a country that he makes his living in. You don't have to sing your lungs out, but put your head down and be respectful. Turning you back is a specific statement that you are trying to make and get attention. That's the definition of an a-hole dick move. If you were never in the service you will probably never understand I guess from this boards responses. Sigh.

Once again I tried not to turn this into something else. The title was professional atheletes who NOBODY thinks are a-holes. So this is not true about Nash. Should be a dead issue from there. Then people twisted what I said or can't understand.

Drunk =/= a-hole

You can't really judge someone's character when they are drunk. It does say something that he stopped drinking after the incident though.

Having met him in person, he's actually a pretty nice guy. Not a hint of arrogance or snobbish behavior either...

I'd say John Daly doesn't qualify because he has like three ex-wives, all of whom probably think he is a dick. But i gotta hand it to JD: if you're famous and only three people on earth think you're a dick, you're probably a really good guy deep down.

Agree on Namath. Not a dick--just got caugt being a dumb arse on national tv.

Carl Everett is the friendliest athlete ever.

I know from experience.

Bonzi Wells' friend pulled a ''you know who he is?" on me in 2008 before Bonzi himself walked in. It was the day after I went to the Jazz @ Rockets playoff game 5 and he had been kicked off the team earlier that year.
