One of the most vocal opponents of Terrell Owens’ Hall of Fame candidacy has a new retroactive basis for opposing Owens’ induction.

Gary Myers, formerly of the New York Daily News, was at the front end of the bashing of Owens that occurred when voters snubbed him twice for enshrinement. In the aftermath of Owens’ decision not to show up for the Hall of Fame ceremony, Myers has a new basis for trying to keep Owens out. "I'm staying home to enjoy the ceremony with

“Terrell Owens informed Pro Football HOF he’s not attending induction ceremony,” Myers said in a Thursday tweet that has since been deleted. “Unprecedented. Classy guy. If I knew he would not show up, I would have voted for somebody who would have. T.O was not happy it took until third year to get in. Don’t know reason he’s not showing up.”

These Pro Football HOF voters might be bigger assholes than the BBWAA writers who vote for the Baseball HOF. I'm glad T.O. essentially gave the middle finger to those pricks.

Sport writers take themselves far too seriously. It's pathetic.

Basically discredits the Hall of Fame then, right? I don't care about his play, he was a meanie so we're not letting him in!

Yep. Sounds like Hollywood and their requirements that person has to show up to be honored.

Some poster in the other TO thread told me that TO not getting in on the first ballet proves that he isn’t a for sure hall of fame player

So HOF voters pretend they don't consider off the field matters but this idiot would't have voted for TO because he wouldn't go to a ceremony 5 years after he retired.

Says T.O. was upset about getting snubbed.
Then says he isn't sure why T.O. is upset.

These people are fricking clueless.

I hope the response to this is more players skipping this shite.

The NFL voters are still less pompous assholes than BBWA.

That's what I was saying yesterday.

That's why he was NEVER a slam dunk HOFer...

Because people vote, it's not just numbers.

Slam dunk means numbers, career love and goodwill.

And the people who vote look at the totality of the career...on and off the field.

I've read enough of HOF voters opinions on T.O. and they actually really hold it against him that he was a cancer in the lockeroom.

Hell Dr. Z said he would never allow Ken Stabler into the HOF as long as he was alive...because Stabler was mean to his colleagues...or played a prank on some reporter.

Dr. Z had to suffer a stroke for Ken Stabler to be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

T.O.'s election was probably the most begrudingly election ever for a player based on what you can read what voters have said about him and most isn't flattering. And not just attitude but how he was so divisive in locker rooms and divided clubs and made them worse.

But yeah, he could catch a pass. A lot could in the 2000's.

It is one thing to hold against T.O. that his personality made the teams he was on worse. That is part of his value as a player. Holding it against him that he won't go to the HoF induction? Crazy.

They’re not honoring the voters, they’re honoring him. So he can celebrate however he wants to celebrate.

I wish T.O. would STFU and play ball once in a while, but I don't blame him for being pissed at the Hall.

Dude has some mental issues beyond just being a diva.

Are you seriously trying to act like almost 16K receiving yards (2nd all time) and 153 TDs (3rd all time) is nothing?
