I said that earlier in the thread and someone said it was N.La. arrogance.......I'm from Hahnville and our schools are A rated and athletic programs are pretty darn good. Along the bayou and river community and industry support for their schools is strong and won't suffer.

Hahnville has already discussed leaving with the privates. They voted against the split.

Publics may regret that attitude. Especially if the transfer rules from LHSAA to the new organization can encourage open poaching as a parting "frick you" to the public schools.

A random public in North or Central LA isn't going to be too worried about Menard or St Fred's poaching their players.

Sounds like jealousy to me. Yes they want us to go, to make their road to the shreveport easier bc guess what you will never see the dome again. I guarantee that BBall will be moved back to Laffy or to the NO Arena. Enjoy playing shithouse of the blind during the season and then getting arse raped by Neville or WM every year. What are the principals of publics gonna do when that happens? Have another split so they can be gifted a trophy?

Some publics will be fine without privates

Fixed it.

No one is denying that rural public schools will be fine. But what these rural schools seem to ignore is that there are thousands of public school kids that are going to suffer because they want to win more championships.

At the end of the day, the LHSAA is supposed to conduct itself in a manner that is best for all kids. It's literally the first line of the constitution. They aren't doing it in this situation.

The vast majority of kids in Louisiana go to public schools. To many posters on here seem to forget that. I realize in BR and Nola the wealthiest kids go private but thinking that publics can't afford the split is ludicrous.

A number of publics would likely be coming with the private schools because of their ties and/or they think they would be targeted next.

If every private school left, how long until public schools like West Monroe, Haynesville, and others who have put up tons of titles get targeted because someone's special snowflakes didn't win state?

As I said not in favor of the split , I just think it's stupid that the privates think that the public need them to survive. It will be harder for public schools to break away as well. For WM to break all the Ouachita parish schools would as well.

They're not going to get enough to go when 182 schools voted for the split. The 44 public schools that voted against it aren't going to leave the public school rivalries, and they especially won't leave in the higher classifications to play in playoff brackets that they can't even fill out. Schools like Hahnville, Acadiana, or others that abstained like Thibodaux, West Monroe aren't going anywhere because the schools they play are staying put in the LHSAA.

so why in your opinion would Central and Zachary be thinking about it? due diligence?

i'll be honest, this is just me, but i think we would have advantages in a new league... we play Catholic schools in everything anyway, we'd keep playing our biggest rivalry, plus i'm sure we'd benefit from looser recruiting rules. we'd have more of an equal voice with schools around our size instead of getting canceled out by the likes of Florien...

everyone has unique circumstances though

Exactly, you think school districts want to have one school playing in one league and another school in a different league. Not going to happen.

Doesn't Central get kids from anywhere in the parish? They might just be worried that the LHSAA will decide to crack down on that if there are no more private schools to worry about and that would leave them out in the cold so they're hedging their bets.

Single district schools (central and Zachary) could do it but there aren't many in Louisiana. So for the districts with more than one every school has to agree to move or start a new school district. That's a lot of wasted money for sports.

Nope. All the students live in Central.

Or at least have an address in Central.
