Ummmm, not really the same calumet. Guy from bluegrass hall is leasing it (I think started before breeders cup). That calumet has been gone a long time. You should read the book wild ride. The stuff that went on there was awful.

After Lundy ran the place into the ground there was talk of dividing it up. The polish guy bought it to save it from that. After his death bluegrass hall leased it. Notice the silks aren't the red and blue of calumet? That's because they were sold, I believe to someone in south America.

After Lundy

Intentionally broke Alydar's legs.....The Polish guy bought it and my uncle was the manager of the place for years before moving to Gainesway. Honestly, Oxbow wasn't near the best horse, but he got a Hall of Fame ride from a Hall of Fame rider. Good for Gary.

Depressing...but good for Gary. This one definitely stings though.

And that's not the real Calumet. Those days are gone. Have read Wild Ride and fully believe they killed Alydar for insurance money before the farm went belly up.

did anyone watch the preakness card?

was the fix in?? they allowed horses to crawl on the lead, all day, and win. It was especially disturbing on the grass, where they allowed crawling at 5F.

And the stewards need to have krigger and the rest who had speed horses, and ask why they didnt try to get the lead on that slow of a 1st quarter.

A speed horse doesnt close, they either get lead, push, sit on lead, or fade before the half.

Oh, I know it is not the same Calumet. I think the Polish owner passed away with cancer a couple years ago...I thought his daughter tried to run it, but it seem she was way over her head and got out.

It's just not the same thing. It will never truly be calumet ever again.

It was great. Had a blast. PJ, good call, but you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

guess I will die before we see a Triple Crown

They need to make it a rule that all horses must run all three races. You can't skip a race to prep for the others. This puts triple crown threats at a severe disadvantage esp by the time the Belmont rolls around. No coincidence that it's usually the Belmont they lose. Not fair to have fresh horses running against those that have been in all 3.

That's the beauty of it. It's almost impossible to do. Changing it up would just cheapen things.

It was 25 years between Secretariat and Citation's Triple Crowns. Maybe people thought after Riva Ridge struggled home fourth in the Preakness that we'd never see another Triple Crown winner.

...And we all know what happened the next year.

That was a great ride by Gary. Jumped on the lead and slowed the pace waaaay down. Prevented closers like Mylute from doing anything.

Laughed at some people who bought the Goldencents and Governor Charlie hype.

...But then I bought the Orb hype.

Had him on top of all my bets, including a tri that had Mylute in third.
