I know semifinals are Peach & Fiesta. But is the 1vs4, 2vs3 already determined?

If it plays out LSU/Clemson in Peach, Osu/Utah/UO in Fiesta makes most $ since but couldn't find where that's already set.

#1 essentially gets to pick

I believe its partially based on the distance traveled for the #4 team. For instance Utah would be put in Atlanta versus the 1 seed because it’s a much longer distance for them than Fiesta. Giving the 1 seed an advantage.

That factors into it. But I think essentially #1 picks.

In your scenario its revered because Utah is closer to the Fiesta

#1 gets top pick. That’s one of the reasons the debate between OSU and LSU is so heated

The committee decides for the teams before releasing their final rankings on December 8th

From their website:

9. Pairings for Semifinals

The team ranked No. 1 by the selection committee will play team No. 4 in the semifinals. Team No. 2 will meet team No. 3.

When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

It's a complete toss up. It comes down to who's #1 and Clemson being close to Atlanta but probably being the 3 seed throws a wrench into the process.

Does the committee actually contact the #1 school to ask them where they would want to go, or do they just assume based on geography?

I don't think so.

The committee evaluates for them.

So, they are going to make teams travel for
1. OSU peach
LSU 1400 miles
Clemson 1950 miles
Utah 1850 miles
OSU 560 miles.

2 LSU-Clemson Peach
LSU 530 miles
Clemson 130 miles
Utah 650 miles
OSU 1850 miles

Option 2 really sucks for OSU, but much easier travel for every other team. And both are much easier for the lower seed as far as travel. So it’ll likely be OSU to peach...unless LSU gets the 1 seed
