I would crack up laughing if he called up the Astros and said, " Thanks for the offer, but I like it here. "

Well he's also gotta do what's best for his family, I mean Derek lee just did the same thing. And I don't think Philly was one of his places he'd like to go. I know atl and st. Louis were off the top of my head

Oswalt because he's owed so much money. I wonder if they'll have to eat any of it.
They will, Drayton has pretty much said he'll eat a few mil or so. This was necessary in order for us to get the prospects we need for this trade. About damn time Drayton did something right.

When professional athletes say this I find it amusing.

will it be good for his family if we burn down his fricking house?

What does he have to think about? This is his chance to win it all in the twilight of his carreer. If Oswalt doesn't accept this trade then he doesn't care about winnig. Plus if the Phils don't pick up his option he's free to sign wherever next year - he can sign with the cards if he wants.

Rumored deal that is in place with Astros and Phillies.
SP Roy Oswalt (Phils agree to renegotiate 2012 buyout from $2M to $5M)
2B/Utility Jeff Keppinger
Cash Consideration of $8M (roughly half of Oswalt’s remaining 2010 salary plus buyout)
Astros Receive:
1B Jon Singleton
P JP Happ
P Scott Mathieson
OF Anthony Gose

As far as the family line goes, it was meant as sarcasm, but I guess I should have added
after it
But yeah I hope he does get traded so the phillies trade away more of their young talent for this guy. I think we can still hold on to the east even if they get oswalt because their bullpen is so bad

quote:Plus there's no guarantee he's going to be an Astro next season, unless they have already made the mutual option official. If he ends up finishing off a great season, he could opt out, and sign a mutli-year dear elsewhere. And I would too if I was him, and thought I could get a 4 or 5 year deal on the FA market.
It's not guaranteed that Myers will be this good next year. This is a case of selling high.

Keppinger as well?
Where did you get this rumor?
Looking up Jonathon Singleton, he's compared to Ryan Howard. Apparently he can rake as well.

It was posted in the comments section of the crawfishboxes.
Of course no one really knows what the heck is going on at all.

Richard Justice posted a blog on chron.com saying it looks like J.A Happ, Singleton, and RHP Vance Worley for Roy.
Rotoworld.com also has a blurb stating it is three players for Roy with one being Happ.
Guess we will know what it really is by the end of the day if Roy approves.

I wonder if they'll throw in Domonic Brown if the Astros include Berkman... the dude can probably still play some RF. He isn't called The Big Puma for nothing, right?
Posted on 7/29/10 at 9:21 am to LSUBoo
No way they give up Brown. They wanted to trade Werth so they could bring up Brown in the first place.
Posted on 7/29/10 at 9:23 am to The Sad Banana
Oh I know... just hoping the Astros could get something for Berkman as well from someone. A few teams that were talking Fielder or Dunn might be interested in him if the price tag was cheaper than the other two.
